“Good hotel in great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

We had a standard room on the second floor with a balcony. The room was small but it was clean and had a modern television. The bathroom was also small but nicely decorated. We had a shower with a curtain (no bath) however the curtain wasn’t sufficient, so having a shower turned the entire bathroom into a wet room. The balcony did not have a nice view and it was not in great condition and it hadn’t been cleaned for quite a while. The Wifi was non-existent in the room but was quite quick in the reception area. The staff were very friendly, hospitable and accommodating. The hotel is a five minute walk from the old town, which means there is no noise at all even though it is next to a busy road. There is a small convenience store next door and the hotel is a stones throw from the railway station. All in all a good hotel for its price.

The room was nice, the double bed was quite big and so was the bathroom. There were both a big tub and a separate shower which was very good and spacious. The air condition functioned well. The only problem was the the WIFI was not wireless - you had to obtain a cable from the front desk (free) - but then only one can access the internet at the time.
There is free parking, and the distance from the hotel to the old town is just a couple of hundred meters. The staff were smiling and spoke good english.

La Rotonde is a hotel that worked very fine for us: large room (we were 4), very large bathroom, parking in the hotel, and a 5 minutes walk to visit the old city of Aix-en-Provence, which is a very nice city to strolling around. Tip: before getting to the city, have the breakfast at a coffee shop (not the big brasserie by its side): a hot chocolate and a delicious croissant, plus very nice owners will give a "bonjour" that will make you having a very good "journée" this day.

Room, bed and bathroom were ok. Location was good, at walking distance from the nice centre of the town, but there was heavy traffic on the road in front of the hotel.
The room was very noisy if I kept the window open. In the night the traffic noise was acceptable, but walls are very thin so one can hear other people having shower or leaving their room.
Service and breakfast were good.

Overall the hotel was nice, and the service was great, every one was friendly and spoke some level of English. Location was perfect, easy to walk to the sites, restaurants and shopping.

Was disappointed to learn that wireless wasnt available in the rooms, only in the reception area on the ground floor. Made it very inconvenient sine I needed to do work and have I ternet access during my stay.

I think it was mention in another review that the shower floor is level with the bathroom floor. There is no water restraint from the shower, so the bathroom floor gets flooded.

The hotel is well situated close to the centre of Aix, a few minutes walk to the old town with its bars and restaurants. It is on a busy main street but the noise at the front was not bad. Plenty of parking available next to the hotel.

Receptionist friendly and spoke good English. Entrance foyer has a bar and doubles up as the breakfast area. No restaurant. Breakfast good - help yourself to all the standard continental stuff - cold meats, cheese, cereals, pastries, croissants etc. Can eat breakfast at outside table screened from the road by plants - very pleasant.

Bedroom pretty basic but adequate as a place to sleep - not to hang around! TV in room has only French channels (in fact the picture was awful but did not investigate as only stayed one night. WiFi meant to be available (ask at Reception) but I could not get a signal on the first floor. Internet connected pc available in the Reception area. Air-con in bedroom worked ok on a hot evening. Bed very hard but comfortable enough. Wet bathroom was shower only.

Everywhere seemed clean, public areas had been redecorated but bedroom looked a bit worn. Generally a decent, standard 3* hotel, a reasonable place to stay for a short visit but not the place to lounge around in your room!

Stayed here with my wife and child in a room for 4. The location is great for Cours Mirabeau only 5min away and only 2 min. from the Aix-Marseilles bus terminus where it's very easy to get to Marseilles in 25 min. Hotel looks shabby, like from the 1980's. It looks a bit worn all over and in need of some decoration to make it cheerfull. Rooms clean but very uninspiring. Bathroom big and OK. Staff are very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was €8 but a better breakfast can be had on Cours Mirabeau for €5 and a much better location to eat and watch people go by. Carpark OK and safe but parking totally haphazard with the possibility of getting blocked in by other cars. Not what I had imagined a 3 star hotel should be like and not worth €120.
