“Art in Aix”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

This museum has been - and is - the repository of donations through the ages and so it has an eclectic collection.
There is a wonderful self-portrait by Rembrandt, a lovely portrait of Madame Cézanne by her husband and an interesting basement gallery of finds from Entremont. Temporary Exhibitions vary in quality.

“Musee Granet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

This is a great musee with some of the finest work I have seen, outside of the Louvre. Many of the paintings look like they have just come of the Painter's Easel. Photography is prohibited but the paintings are worth the time to see them.

“Great musuem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Outside this museum doesnt look like it contains all the rooms it does, with some of its sculpture and large roccoco painting rooms feeling like it could have been taken straight out of the louvre. The cezanne section fits in with the theme that runs through this whole city, and additions such as his paint palette definitely make it worth the visit. Free for under 25s this place felt like even more of a bargain with a selection of work from granet (unsurprisingly) to picasso.

When we visited there was a very interesting exhibition on. It seems that they have something to be viewed most times. Central location.

“So-so museum”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This museum was fine, but because Aix doesn't have a lot of museums to visit, I think it gets better reviews than it deserves. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way for it, but on a rare rainy day, it's probably worth a visit.
