We ate at our fair share of restaurants in Aix, and we've eaten at innumerable restaurants around the world. This one ranks way up there because of the experience and the warmth of the people who work there.
The food here was excellent---flavourful, delicious Moroccan cuisine. The menu focused mainly on a variety of tagines, their specialty. (Bear in mind, this is not particularly spicy food, if that's what youre expecting).
BUT the most appreciable part was the service. The warmth of everyone's personalities was really noticeable.
Ashid (hope that's the right spelling), one of our servers, could not have been friendlier---this man was so genuinely friendly, it really took our experience to new heights---we sat near the door of the main restaurant (they also have tables in their annex right across the narrow street), and he smiled warmly and with sincere happiness every time he came in through the door. They took excellent care of us, way beyond the attention I'm used to in most restaurants, and they all seemed to be very happy people, and it was evident that they had a lot of very devoted regulars there.
If you need glitz and glamour in a restaurant, this is not the place---although it's a very warm and comfortable decor. But the food is excellent. Moroccan food, however, is a specialty unto itself, so look up tagine to know what you're expecting. (Don't be fooled by the exterior street, however---the street is a bit boring, but the restaurant is great).
One of our best nights out... we really enjoyed the hospitality in particular.
Be sure to make a reservation during busier tourist periods.
