We spent 8 nights in this excellent, small hotel in June, using it as a base for visiting the medieval sights of Poitiers itself and then for touring the region around it. We were delighted with our stay. The standard of service was high at all times and we found the evening desk staff, particularly Clemence, and also Karen, most helpful with advice on navigating Poitiers's complicated one way street system, compounded by the ongoing road renewal outside their front gate. Fortunately no noise or dirt from this project came into the hotel whose rooms face a quiet courtyard. The standard of cleanliness in our room and throughout the hotel was very high. Our top floor room had a wonderful view of the swallows darting in and out over the roofs of the city in the evenings. Breakfasts in the pleasant dining room under its capable manager, Marie, were enjoyable and worth the cost. Among the numerous restaurants surrounding the hotel we single out La Serrurerie for its excellent cooked tuna and salads and Le Bistro de l'Absinthe, almost next to the hotel, for its regional cuisine and the friendly welcome of its owner.
