“Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2009

The chateau is gorgeous, inside and out. A perfect place to relax and feel inspired. The hosts are wonderful – warm, welcoming, taking the very best care of their guests. They were so helpful in every respect – very generous with their time, and very kind in their approach. Their local knowledge is superb and their advice always excellent.
Our room was light, spacious, and charming, with a beautiful view over the park. It was exactly as displayed on the website. The room staff are friendly and very efficient – another example of the high standards at the chateau.
We thoroughly endorse the positive words in the other reviews on this site. Chateau de Verrieres is a treasure.

This is an 18th century chateau. Very nice, lovely grounds, lovely hosts. We were upgraded to the General's room, very large with a view of the gardens, comfortable bed, good bathroom (actually almost two bathrooms, one had a shower, toilet, bidet and sink and the other a sink and a tub). Good wi-fi (free) and enough electrical outlets. Breakfast was ok, only took it one night (15Euros per person, not worth it really if you only have coffee, juice and bread like we do). All in all a very pleasant experience and the town of Saumur is very nice with lots of restaurants, etc. We even did our laundry at a laundromat very close to the hotel.

We stayed at this hotel twice in May 2009.It was so enjoyable we returned in September, just to make sure we were not dreaming the first time! This time it was even better. The sun shone,it was hot and sipping a glass or two of cremant beside the heated pool was simply idyllic.Looking for something really different, then spoil yourself and luxuriate in regal elegance at this stunning Chateau, furnished in the style of Napoleon iii.You will not be disappointed in fact you will be totally amazed.Hosts Yolainne and Thierry and Hugo the dog are truly welcoming the best we have ever encountered. They make you feel you are in a home not a hotel. For great food try L"Escargot just 5 mins away.

We stayed with our 12 years old daughter in August for 3 nights. It was a wonderful experience. We stayed in Napolean III's room which was large, beautifully furnished and comfortable. The chateau is within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. The outdoor pool was warm with sun loungers and a wooded garden. I would highly recommend a stay.

Everything that all the other reviews have said about this place are true. This is one wonderful place to stay. You are greeted at the door and made to feel welcome, both by the owners and their dog. There is gated off street parking. The location is in walking distance to the center of town. The rooms are spacious and clean and wonderfully decorated. There is a coffee maker in the room! Breakfast is delicious. We stayed in approximately 7 hotels in our two week tour of France, and withour doubt this was our favorite. I can not say enough wonderful things about the owners or about the hotel. If you are anywhere this location, stay here!

Perhaps it has been said before but I agree with all the ecstatic reviews about Chateau de Verrieres that have already been posted here.
This beautiful 19th Century period house is within easy walking distance of the centre of Saumur . The owners really do welcome you personally on your arrival.....they make you feel like honoured guests in their own home.
Yolaine provided us with personal recommendations for local restaurants and for sightseeing in the area.
The bedrooms each have their own name and individual character and all the public rooms are filled with period furniture. Everything is spotless.
Breakfasts are served in an airy space in the basement and there is a large swimming pool to one side of the chateau.
