“Good location, nice rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

Staff super helpful, rooms nice if a little small, but clean and nice, - larger executive room recommended. Great location for station and shops and general sights, - nothing fancy but very comfortable.

Room Tip: the attic rooms on the top floor were nice, junior suite recommended

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

This hotel is located directly across from the train station making it very convenient to access from the Paris airports by high-speed train. We rented a car from the rental agency at the train station for the rest of our trip. This was much easier than renting a car at the Paris airport and having to navigate the traffic in Paris. The hotel is quite nice and the people at the desk were extremely helpful, making good recommendations for restaurants. The room was nice, but my only complaint is that it was on the street side and therefore quite noisy at night. I would strongly recommend getting a room on the backside away from the main street. The breakfasts were quite nice and the town in Angers is very interesting, especially the Chateau which has some gorgeous tapestries.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back away from the main street and the train station.

Stayed here many times. We love it's location and friendly staff. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. Great to sit outside for lunch or drinks. We always stand at the French windows in the evening with our nightcap drinking in the atmosphere. It is a lovely drive here from Paris and Angers itself is easy to walk around and soak up the history. Jump on the petit train outside the castle and do the tour it is great fun.

I stayed here as a member of a group of 50 for 7 nights. Lots of groups stay here. Access from the railway station is easy - just walk across the large square. Less good for car drivers as parking outside the entrance is very limited on a busy road. The main historical sites and shops are within walking distance for most people.

There is one small lift to all floors. This can create problems for periods when groups arrive and leave. Corridors are carpeted which assists in keeping the place quiet.

The staff, especially those on reception, were excellent - very helpful and their English good. Everywhere seemed clean and tidy.

All the rooms I saw were reasonably spacious, clean and smart. The layout of some is unusual because of the restrictions of an old building. For example our en suite bathroom was across a corridor with a separate toilet next door, all within our room/suite. Our bedroom faced the front above the entrance but the double glazing kept out the majority of noise from the busy road outside. On the first night we found our double bed was awful, most uncomfortable. It was obvious the base had collapsed in the middle. We complained and it was repaired the same day, but even so the bed, a standard double with a slatted base which in theory could be folded up into the wall, was not of a type that I would have expected in a hotel of this standard. Other guests in our group had beds that were fine.

We had a buffet breakfast in a room set aside for our group. The food was a 'standard' cold breakfast but the range was not large and items kept running out. Dinner, again a group (set) meal, was taken in the bistro restaurant by the entrance to the hotel. The food here was good and the difficult trick of serving quickly a freshly cooked meal to 50 was achieved.

Room Tip: If any traffic noise worries you then avoid rooms at the front of the hotel.

Very easy to access via the Angers train station as just across the road, no stairs required either in the train station or hotel. The staff were very helpful, there are maps of Angers at the desk also wifi as well as a laptop and printer in the reception area. A restaurant is attached to the hotel or if you prefer, room service. The breakfast was fantastic, mostly organic and locally sourced produce. This hotel is eco friendly. Angers is a lovely town, very walkable. The Doomsday Tapestry at the chateau in the centre of town is well worth a visit.

Sometimes I think I must have stayed in a different hotel from the one I think I'm reviewing, when I read some reviews. We just spent three wonderful days in charming Angers and if I ever return, as I would love to, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. By the way not everyone who comes to this district has a car. We do all our travelling in Europe by train as do many others, so it's always good to find a nice hotel near the station. I can only endorse the positive comments of other travellers. The service is top notch, the room beautifully furnished, excellent breakfast. Bring your own soap and shampoo if you don't like the idea of a liquid dispenser, as there are no regular toiletries in keeping with the eco 'green' label of the hotel.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Friendly staff, good location in the center of Angers across the street from the train station and good access to restaurants and bars, including a good pub around the corner. Internet is not strong, but the rooms were very reasonable.
