Found location to be good. Liked walking along River and Centre was easy walk.
Satnav took us right to the Hotel. Check-in was very friendly and efficient. Car parking very smooth. Safe and secure. Room very comfortable and smart. TV had only 1 English News Channel, but plenty free movies. Breakfast good enough Continental format, plenty to eat, if needed.
Would recommend this hotel
Rouen is a good place to visit.

We were delighted with the size and amenities of our room: fridge, microwave, bar sink, lots of storage. The walk into town will take about 15 minutes, through boring neighborhoods, so hope for sunny warm weather! The parking garage under the hotel makes it very easy to arrive/depart.

Room Tip: It appears that all the rooms are exactly the same, since we switched from one to another upon check...

The hotel appeared, on the website 6months ago, to be near the town centre. Location means general area I was curtly informed not location of the hotel!! However it is surounded by busy roads and is not 'close' to the centre of Rouen. There is no restaurant, bizarre as quality food is synonymous with Novotel hotels, but a micrwave in the rooms and a slot machine of meals to be heated/eaten in the rooms. Breakfast was a very cold croissant with coffee (cold meats and cheeses were available).
The wifi is poor though I was warned by the recpetion staff that this is the case and the smart/media box complicated but not impossible to work. The staff were courteous but obviously sick of disappointed travellers, we queued behind an exasperated family needing to feed young children who also expected a restaurant, what a shame neither of us could prove the website looked different some months back.
If you love Novotels and I do having stayed in over 15 different ones throughout Europe on over 50 occasions the Suite concept is not for you.

We stayed here for one night as a stop over on our way to the South. We were travelling with our 8 year old son and we were very impressed with the family friendly atmosphere which the hotel portrayed. The room itself was excellent for families. As we were only there for one night, we didn't need to use the kitchen facilities, but the fridge was very handy. We also liked the curtain which divided the room. This meant that my husband and I could sit up and have a drink with a lamp on after my son had gone to sleep. There was also free movies on demand in English on the TV, which went down a storm!
The breakfast was typically French and very good, though if you have the boiled eggs, which you have to cook yourself, make sure you put them in the water heater at least 10 minutes before you actually want them, otherwise you'll find they aren't eveen close to being cooked (as I found when I broke the egg on my plate, which was instantly covered in raw egg!!)
The location of the hotel was great for a stroll along the Seine and for easy access to restaurants. Although the staff were friendly and helpful, when we returned after our evening meal we waited at the hotel bar for over 15 minutes to get a drink, but no staff arrived. We ended up leaving the bar and I sent my husband down later.
The only negative point I have about this hotel was the height restriction in the hotel carpark, which we were never made aware of. We had a Kayak on the roof of out Pasat, which wouldn't fit under the barriers or in some of the parking spaces. We had to remove the Kayak and carry it into the carpark, then fix it back onto the roof once in the space. This was a bit of a pain after 9 hours of driving. We had to do the same when we were leaving. On the plus side, there were loads of parking spaces and the carpark is secure.
If we were travelling with our son and needed a stop over in Rouen again, we would definitely stay here again.

We were looking for a hotel that we could stay at overnight to break up our journey to the West of France, somewhere with family rooms.

The Suite Novotel Rouen Normandie is an excellent choice for this. You get a room that includes a microwave and a seating area, so you can make your own food. It has helpful bilingual staff. The breakfast is adequate. It's also close enough to the cathedral that you can pop in for a visit.
