“All the worst features of French hotels old-style”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

I asked for a parking space - which appeared to be offered on the site. None available, only public car park. Difficult to find using a sta nav.

Worst of all - tiny bed which rolls you togehter. I thought these had been abolished years ago. My wife suffered from the effects for several days.

The only positive point was that they made no fuss when we said we couldn't endure another night. Actually the room itself was quite pleasant but the modernisation attempt had stopped half way leaving a dirty ventilator and pipes hanging off the wall.

Old French lady will greet you with tough french language without smile! I traveled alone, but I booked a room with four beds just in case that my colleagues drop by. That French lady leads me to one tiny room which is obviously not the one I was supposed to stay. After explaining that I booked four-beds room, I was answered the room was already occupied, thus if I still needed a four-beds room, generous French lady could give one more room for me. WHAT FOR? How can a single man use two rooms simultaneously? This hotel is old, dirty, and pitiful. If you strongly want to experience world war II, join the tour with great time-machine, La Vieille Tour. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS HOTEL! Even if the french lady give me back one hundred euros per night, I'll not sleep there. Location is good. But, Rouen is small city. No matter where you stay, you can easily get to the place you want to go.

Room Tip: There's no good room here. I'm wondering whether there's a space for human beings.

Easy to find on the right bank of the river, car parking is free on the street after 7pm until 9am but spaces do get full quickly. Large municipal car park opposite but charges apply. We were on a motorbike so the hotel let us park round the back in their own personal car park where they have an apartment - but generally they do not allow cars to do this.
Good, clean basic room, 10minute walk in to centre of town, lots of restaurants and bars, great shopping
Did not have breakfast just used the hotel as a bed for the night but would definitely recommend. Staff helpful and polite, excellent service.

Whatever you do do not be tempted by the price, do not stop here, the rooms are small and dirty, the welcome is everything but welcoming.

This small family run hotel is excellently located in the heart of Rouen, opposite the Vieille Tour (regrettably under scaffolding in April 2010) and only a small distance from the Cathedral. Underground parking is immediately across the road from the hotel. Our double room, which looked on to the Tour, was quiet, adequately furnished, neat and clean. The room had a shower, toilet and hand basin and copious hot water. The bed linen and towels were clean.

NOTE: We found the rates on the Internet much cheaper (E40) than over the counter (E65). Having seen some of the negative reviews on TripAdvisor, we only booked one night, which we very happily extended to a second night. There is also free WIFI access.

The only thing I didn't like was the curtain separating the toilet and shower from the rest of the bedroom (I prefer a door!). The breakfast - at E6.60 - was also a bit basic. Coffee from a vending machine, limited quantities of orange juice, and baguettes and yoghurt.

The owner/manager does not speak very much English, but is friendly and helpful in 'franglaise'!

We were tired when we pulled into the centre city of Rouen so we stopped in the first hotel that we saw. BIG MISTAKE. Whilst the lobby is compact and clean the rooms are anything but. The carpet is a mishmash of remanants, it is soiled, stained and tattered. The furniture is a collection of things taken from a Salvation Army. The bathroom was missing both a door AND a shower curtain. The bed linens were horrible and cheap. The phones don't work and there is no concierge at night. Anything over 20 EUR a night would be too much. To top it off, the drapes decided to detach themselves from the celing and attack my innocent husband! The only upside is that it is in a great location and there is a parking lot across the street.
