“Extremely accommodating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

This hotel is very well located, though the city is not very large. I had brought my bike with me, and was a little bit unsure of how that might work out once I arrived. The staff was extremely accommodating, however, and allowed me to keep my bike on the lobby level, to the side of the main room which was incredibly helpful, given that my room was four flights up. I was very happy with the friendly service of the staff.

I booked two rooms for two nights online but due to unexpected delay tried to defer my booking to a couple of days later. I made it clear I did not want a refund but would appreciate some help. The manager refused and offered no incentive. I still went ahead and booked two rooms for two days later but had to pay the full price (twice!). It would have cost nothing to offer free breakfasts or similar - and really I thought their attitude was a bit mean, especially as the hotel was not fully booked.
The hotel is fairly central and reasonable value for money although rooms can be noisy.

Room Tip: Avoid room 2 which suffers from the noise of other guests plumbing

Cher Monsieur,

This is a sweet little hotel just a few blcoks from the train station where one arrives and departs. I stepped out after arriving and it was raining and I fould cover in a buidling side ledge et voila it was the Art Museum or Beaux Arts.it is a very good small museum. The propriotor and assistants were all so helpful in recoomending restaurants to find and were very helpful in my contacting friends for a n afternoon out. The furniture and victorian style of the hotel remeinds one of a a good hercule poirot mystery.or grandmothers house. it is quiet and so is the neat clean little neighborhood. Very close to the Jeanne d'arc historiacal locations with fine restaurants just across the square as well as the church ior elgise. A very special place indeed.

I've just come back from an overnight stay in Room 9 (triple room, second floor). The room and bathroom are clean with plenty of character. Everything was functional, the wifi is good. I parked at the carpark nearby. They have a special rate where its €11 for 24 hours. Beds are warm and comfortable. Has a desk, three chairs and more space than expected for a triple room! Excellent location - 10 minute walk to the shopping street running from Eglise de St Ouen to Eglise de Jeanne d'Arc. Will definitely come again.

We stayed one night at Hotel Morand, in Room 6. The building is old and charming, but quirky. No elevator. They have discounted parking in an underground garage a block away. Friendly staff that speaks English. You can have breakfast for a price, which is served in a fantastic rustic room off the lobby. We ate out. Great location. Beautiful circular staircase that winds up several floors. Extra public bathroom in the first floor hallway, which may come in handy if there are more that two people in a room. Our room was clean, big and tall with an fabric ceiling. The bathroom was small and cramped. The shower had no curtain, which needless to say soaked the floor when you showered. Boggles the mind. But, there was noise from adjoining rooms. The building need a major remodeling, especially the rooms. The furniture in our room looks like they found it on the street. With some updating, it could be a great hotel. It was OK, but would probably try somewhere else if we had to go back tomorrow.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 6. We had noise from people on the stairs and noise from the room above.

Dear Sir ,
I really want to thank your sincerity and almost your objectivity concerning your review.
When i read that kind of review , i feel glad to read that our customers enjoyed their stay in our establishment.
Our Hotel is modest but it's also an authentic place with charm and a lot of history.
It would be pretentious to say that our hotel is perfect, However ,I am proud to provide a charming atmosphere combined with a correct facilities Quality.
Of course , Our hotel could be quite noisy if the neighbours are impolite ....
Of Course ,Our Hotel "needs some work" that's why since september 2012 , we have started an important renovation programm. The room 6 will be renovated in 2013.
You can take a look on our official website and discover the pictures of the rooms which have been renovated.
All our marketing strategy is based on transparency: our customers are noticed on all web pages that our hotel is :
-An Old Post Relay from 17th century ! (which implies several caracteristics concerning the floors , the walls and the noise and the fact that there is no lift)
- A 2 stars Hotel (**INN) with a new approvment in april 2012. ( which implies that an official audition has been made by authorized professionnals . On the other Hand , this point means that a 3/4/5 Star hotel has an other range of services and some customers should keep in mind that 64€ for a double room in the heart of Rouen could not be a luxuary room! That's Why some double rooms are 300€ more and even in Rouen.....
Best regards

If you like to stay in characterless, sterile, modern hotels then the Morand is not for you. This hotel reflects the character of medieval Rouen - the spiral wooden stairs are ancient and beautiful, carpets are old and the floorboards creak and the views (from my 3rd floor room) are over the rooftops of Rouen - I love the 'Frenchness' of it all. Despite this the matresses are firm with crisp bedsheets, the showers are aged but work very well, and the staff are so helpful.

Definitely will stay there again.

If you are looking for a special memorable experience then this hotel is prob not for you. However, it has everything you need in a French budget hotel - great location, clean, fairly quiet and occupies a lovely old building. Yes its not flash and the building makes the odd sound, but its nothing too loud or disturbing. We found our one night stay, v pleasant and wld reccomend to a friend. Also if u arrive late you can steal a free parking space from outside the hotel if u plan to leave by 9.30 the next morning. Enjoy!
