“School Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

We took 41 children aged 12-15 to this hotel for two nights in March. The hotel was very welcoming and good value for the price paid. The rooms were basic but clean and well maintained. Breakfast was typical French breakfast with a few extras thrown in such as fresh fruit salad.
With so many students it was useful to have a commercial center next door with shops, eateries and a cinema - and it was only a 10 minute walk into the center of Rouen.
The daytime staff spoke good English, the night porter struggled a little but was most helpful. They even allocated a conference room for our use with the students.
Only criticism would be that the bar shut quite early.

Greeted by a beaming smile from the receptionist on our fairly late arrival. Room perfect, although the bathroom was 'bijou'. Knees were virtually touching the wall when one was on the loo. And I"m not a large person. But all was clean & bed comfortable. Breakfast was pricey - 10E, so we went out and bought croissants at the nearby boulangerie. That price is fine if you're someone who eats a lot. But if you're a light eater at breakfast, then it's cheaper to get it from the shop.
Location is interesting - incorporated into a Shopping Mall and at first sight we worried about that, but it's fine. And in fact ideal as there is an excellent eatery in the Mall that stays open until 10pm.
Parking is in the underground car park linked to the Mall, which has security staff. And only cost E4.50 via the hotel. Bit tricky to get to due to one way system, so use your GPS if you can.
Only thing against the hotel really was that they don't do evening meals at the weekend (Fri - Sunday). But as the eatery (Le Chalet - see separate review) in the Mall worked out well, that is a minor point.
Would definitely use again.

We stayed 3 nights at the Saint Sever and had a great time. The first room smelled of smoke, but got moved to another which was fine. Conveniently located by the shopping centre and the MJC rive gauche sports hall/roller hockey rink.

Parking was absolutely fine under the shopping centre and very reasonably priced.

I've read some complaints about the shower and whatever... listen... you're paying €40 per night for a hotel room within 10 minutes walk of the city centre. The place is clean, the staff are very friendly, but you don't have a marble bathroom... big deal.

The hotel is economical and the service quite good but it has its disadvantages. One of them is this famous parking in the shopping center which was impossible to find and it was very uncomfortable. We came to Roen very tired and after the third attempt to find this parking I started getting angry. The room was very little and at the beginning they gave us the one with the bathroom which didn't work. The girl at the reception had always been very kind and let us choose the other room. But in 2 others there was something wrong toi.As a result the first evening appeared to be a nightmare-searching for the parking and running from one room to another. Among the advantages I want to underline a beautiful view from the window and the work of a young lady at the reception who had always been very kind.If you don't need to spend a lot of time in a hotel but use it as a place to sleep the night it could be an acceptable variant

Good for a stopover. Rooms not huge and looking tired. Bit of a walk to the city centre. Friendly staff. Car parking great - but takes some finding. Reasonably priced - will visit again.

This ibis is definitely not on par with others we stayed in whilst in France. We made the mistake of not requesting smoke free rooms .. and regretted it all night long. It smelt so bad! The tram is across the road as is the Saint Server shopping centre which was really convenient. The public transport system was so easy to understand and even gives you an English option to buy tickets! The free internet is also nice :)
Breakfast was disappointing, but maybe that was more the fault of the girl on shift. We were there around 8.30am and there were about 3 or 4 other couples there at the same time. There were empty baskets where bread must have been at some point, the cheese and ham as well as the pancakes, croissants and jam were all either down to the last bits or were missing entirely. I may have had higher expectations after staying at other ibis', but its not that hard to get more food considering the breakfast runs until 10am.
Checking out was no problem, but getting the car out of the underground garage was. We ended up driving out the entrance as following the carpark the opposite way yielded a dead end. It was a bit frustrating.
The convenience and the reasonable price makes it a good option in Rouen.

Room Tip: Ask for non-smoking.

If you don't mind the 15 minute enjoyable walk to the centre it is an excellent hotel for the price. Parking is in the shopping mall, remember were you park your car as we lost ours for a short time! Lift to hotel from the car park. Breakfast was very good and included a very nice fruit salad (don't always get this in France). Room adequate and clean, odd shower that was operated from the sink but worked well. Would recommend for a night or two for a visit to the city.
