“Convenient, clean, friendly, but a bit noisy and uncomfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

We booked a twin room for a one night stay in the center of Rouen during late July.

The staff was superb and friendly, providing us with a map (marking where we and the major attractions were), letting us keep our bags there after we checked out, and suggesting some locations for dinner. The hotel was very conveniently located near everything we wanted to see, and the hotel had a deal with the parking garage right nearby (it only cost us 8 Euro to park for the day).

The rooms were clean and in good repair, and there was a tub and a shower in the bathroom.

The only downsides were that the beds were a bit too hard (perhaps the larger beds in other rooms are more comfortable), and, as with many European hotels, there was no air conditioning. This generally isn't a problem, but it was particularly warm during the days while we were there, and we had the option of opening the windows so it would cool off at night or keeping them closed and sweltering (all you get is a duvet, no top sheet, again, common in Europe). We chose to open the windows and were kept awake all night by people yelling and honking in the streets.

A combination of our unwittingly booking a trip to Rouen during the annual tall ships armada and a couple of messed up bookings elsewhere meant that we ended up at this hotel rather than actively choosing it. That said we have a lovely stay and although the decor is a bit eclectic for my tastes the room was bright and cheery, spotlessly clean and the hotel very well located in the centre of town but away from noise.

We had a nice but too short stay at the Hotel de l"Europe in Rouen. Great location ... easy walk to the cathedral and central marketplace where there are a number of restaurants. The gentleman at the desk marked routes to major attractions on a map for us. Room was not particularly large but certainly adequate. Updated bathroom. Attractive breakfast room with a large variety of breads, jams, cereals, yogurts, etc. Can't address the parking as we were lucky to find a spot right in front of the hotel for our overnight stay. We paid $215 for the two of us in late May, including breakfast.

The staff at the hotel is the creates a warm and wellcoming athmosphere even 27 noisy teenage girls entered the hotel last January.... The hotel is of great value for your money, centrally located and quite well maintained. The breakfast is tasty. I could return with the Team.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms.

If you are looking for a comfortable, centrally located, well-maintained and well-staffed hotel in Rouen, I would highly recommend the Hotel De L'Euope. I stayed in what I think was the most basic room. While it was very small, it was attractively decorated with cheery colors. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very nicely appointed. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the main sites of Rouen and an easy walk from the railroad station. This hotel is a winner!

If your idea of a great living environment is a contemporary art museum, then you would like this hotel. The atmosphere of the hotel was sterile and I found the staff to be cold and not terribly helpful. I felt like I was troubling them in the few interactions that I had, and they did not extend themselves to me in any way. When I read the reviews on TripAdvisor, I had expected much better customer service, so maybe I just stayed at a bad time. The breakfast was expensive for the selection offered. The room was clean but fairly small and had no comfortable place to sit other than the bed. The location was excellent and the views out the window were great, but other hotels in Rouen offer the same. I cut my stay short and would not return to this hotel.

Room Tip: In warm weather, the Atelier room's terrace would be very nice to enjoy. In cold weather, payin...

Just returned from a stay at the Europe Hotel and would recommend the Hotel for both business and leisure travel. The staff at the Hotel are quite wonderful and ensure a warm and welcoming atmosphere on arrival. All amenities in place and you will be knocked out by the food and in particular a more than superior breakfast! Ideally located in the heart of the old town with everything on your doorstep. Thank you for a lovely and pleasant stay!

Room Tip: For a really special stay choose one of the themed rooms to add a bit extra to a romantic visit or j...
