“Excellent location but very hard to find!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

This hotel is in a fantastic location right next to the cathedral and square. We arrived by train and collected our hire car and then spent the next your trying to find our hotel. At one stage we were very close apparently but took a wrong turn. The only way we eventually made it to our hotel was with the assistance of local police who lowered bollards at the start of a lane way! We were greatly relieved when we arrived safely at our hotel. It is a very pleasant hotel with comfortable, good sized rooms. Our room just looked on to a courtyard but it was very clean and well maintained. The front desk staff were very helpful and assisted when dealing with a hire car issue. Breakfast was the standard fare and served in a pleasant area downstairs. I would recommend this hotel for its excellent location.

Can't fault Whippettar's previous review, really. Very tricky to find by car, but then this is a hotel in the middle of a predominantly pedestrianised city centre, that you can drive to (just about) and park underneath: so I guess that goes with the territory, really. It's a decent enough hotel when you get there: it's a Mercure, so you know what you're going to get, pretty much. Breakfast exceeded expectations.

I would definitely use this hotel again. The location is superb: you are a few minutes' walk from Rouen's main attractions - and also from a very good little restaurant called L'Espiguette that's well worth a try.

Great location - right next to Cathedral. Despite that, it is hard to find by car - get detailed directions beforehand from the hotel reception and compare them with Google map of the town. Then follow them carefully!

Freindly staff who all seem to speak English. Excellent breakfast, but don't do evening meals. Rooms not huge, but adequate.

Hotel is minutes from Rouen Cathedral and Saint-Ouen Church. Close proximity to Musee de la Ceraminique and Place du Vieux-Marche (where Joan of Arc was executed) and is 5 minute walk to numerous restaurants, bars and cafes. Large rooms, clean, comfortable beds; friendly staff; hot shower. Huge lobby and fast elevators. Have to keep signing in on WiFi and there are no plug ins in back of the bed. Basement parking lot is very narrow with steep drive and remote door which you have to input code to open door upon leaving while holding vehicle in gear on steep drive

This hotel sits on a quiet street in view of the Cathedral amidst lovely small shops...sleep comes easily as it's primarily foot traffic.WiFi is fast and free, and hot water and pressure is vigorous. The customer service here rocks!Employees are cheerful, professional and provide excellent suggestions. Hotel is well located in the center of this lovely old town, most features are within a few short blocks. Breakfast is ample and tasty, though NOT included (bit stiff in my mind...) Had a lovely stay and would not hesitate to go back.

I stayed here one night on business at the beginning of October. It was not straightforward to reach by car (my GPS gave me directions along roads which were one-way), but the parking is convenient under the hotel (narrow, but I managed it with a seven-seater vehicle driving slowly).
There is a bar in the hotel but no restaurant; however, there is 'room service' which is not bad at all (I arrived quite late so no restaurants in the locality were open). My room opened on to a narrow street but was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast is served from 06:30, and it was ample with a good selection of meats, cheese and cereals. WiFi is free (and was fast); you have to pay for the parking and breakfast.
Recommended.

Room Tip: I had a standard non-smoking room on the third floor overlooking the street. It was quiet.

I stayed in a Privilege room with balcony (just a roof) and it felt more like a luxury room in a All Seasons/Ibis Styles hotel... not always so clean, problems with electricity, some things like the Nespresso machine don't worked well, ... I have stayed in better Mercure hotels...
