“Charming Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

Booked this hotel after reading good reviews about it on trip advisor and we were not dissappointed! We arrived ath the hotel at 8.00am after our ferry and on the off chance of a early check in arrived at the hotel which to our delight was not a problem we were given the keys to our room. The room was lovely with a nuatical theme through the hotel. Weather was good so the balcony was an added bonus. Breakfast which was included in the rate was great with a large selection. Stayed an extra night because we liked the hotel so much! Also the hotel offer free passes to an outdoor pool olny a few minutes away which was great as it was reallt hot during our stay. Cant wait to go back!

This lovely small hotel was personable for a short stay with a comfortable room for two and had a good breakfast( Cafe au Lait and a croissant became my addiction every morning in France). Our hotel was close enough to explore the center of this busy city and visit a gravelly beach nearby. Etretat, made famous by the Impressionists was an easy drive on our second day which we enjoyed. Picked up food for a picnic along the way at a local market on our way. Etratat was wonderful to sketch and just take photos of, wonderfully shaped cliffs reaching down into the sea. Also visited Honfleur which also has charming old buildings also painted by the Impressionists but there were a lot more tourists here. It thinned out by 5PM making it more inviting and restive to stay for dinner. We enjoyed the good seafood available in the restaurants. Enjoyed use of internet in our rooms, a need we had to connect with family while touring France for 6 weeks

We booked one night at the Hotel Vent d'Ouest as all hotels in nearby Etretat were fully occupied. And I did not regret it. Just as the city centre of Le Havre (Unesco World Heritage), this hotel did surprise us in a very postive way. Rooms are very cozy and they are decorated with eye for detail.
When travelling through Normandie, especially in the summer months, I would certainly recommend to stay one night in this hotel, enjoy the atmosphere and spend a few hours to explore the quirky centre of Le Havre.

I cannot get enough if this hotel! it is beautiful! the small details dotted all over the hotel are equisite...the nautical/quaint theme is just perfect. It's a shame its not in an equally charming town...but there's not alot you can do there....You forget you are in Le Havre when in this hotel, its so peaceful. The hotel has a small restaurant/lounge, we did not dine here, we walked for 10 minutes towards some restaurants (map and restaurant suggestions provided in the room) and found some great places to eat, various cuisines, at various prices...if you're arriving by car, there are meters outside the hotel, but its free from about 6ish until 9am the following morning, so we just topped it up until 11am in the morning, costing about 2 euros at most. I can't wait to go back to this hotel - just need to find an excuse to go back Le Havre first!! :-)

Room Tip: you may want to request a room with balcony opposite St Joseph's church, a peculiar place, very...

We enjoyed our stay in this pet friendly establishment. Check in and out went smoothly. Our room (enseigne de vaisseau) was tiny yet cosily furnished with a comfortable bed a shabby chic desk, a table and one chair. Our balcony was giving onto St Joseph Church - a stunning piece of mid-twentieth century architecture.
Parking outside the hotel cost us 2 euros for half a day.
Casual and relaxing overall atmosphere. An ideal base to explore this endearing city.

Very cute and cosy little hotel with nautical theme, immaculate and quirky. Highly recommend Vent D'Ouest as an atmospheric place to stay in Le Havre which otherwise looked like an industrial sterile town, except the sea view.

I wish every city I travel to had a little hotel like this one!
My room ('Amiral') had ample room for a very comfortable bed, a bookcase with books in English and French as well as a few magazines, a small work desk and cozy sitting area - all furnished in a way to suggest 'home' rather than 'hotel'. A large bathroom contributes to the feeling of comfort. Very friendly reception and very reasonable prices. What's not to be happy about?
