“Lovely and very French!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

A wonderful experience and comfortable stay! Everything was just right. We booked through Booking.com which was easy and Morgan (the owner) contacted us straight away. He also greeted us on the first day and gave us a very in depth description of Honfleur (including copious information). We stayed in the spacious apartment in the attic. It was like a tardis with so much room. Nicely decorated and a real home from home. There is a full stock of cutlery, flatware, crockery and cooking utensils. Cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine all in good order (but remember to take a few dish washing tablets and washing powder as I forgot!). Morgan is very friendly and helpful and we found him a perfect host. Linen is provided as were tea towels, towels and the apartment was very clean. The building is situated very close to the centre of Honfleur which has a wide range of eating establishments but we particularly like the pizzeria which is a short walk down the hill from the apartment. The communal garden is well kept and super to relax in with a book and glass of wine! There was always plenty of places to park along the road and best of all... You have fantastic view of the Pont de Normandy! We had a lovely week at the apartment and would highly recommend.

Room Tip: The apartment was spacious and very well equipped.

We stayed for 3 nights with friends. We booked through an online site and Morgan ( the owner) confirmed immediately. We also e-mailed a few days before to say we were going to arrive late.
Due to the crossing we were later than expected but Morgan came out to meet us as we arrived and was very welcoming. The house looks nothing from the street but if you enter from the garden as we did you will find a wonderfully characterful house with a lovely garden (Wisteria and roses growing up the walls). To the front we had views over the bay and the bridge. We were in two of the three rooms on the first floor. They were huge with lovely french furniture and decoration. They were so large we easily had our breakfasts together around a table in one or other of the rooms. One room had a shower and one had a bath. There was a kettle with coffee etc but ask for some milk if you need to.
Morgan booked a restaurant the first night which we loved and the restaurants etc are an easy 10 minute walk. We enjoyed three nights in this very pretty seaside town.
This house was a very romantic place to stay and we would happily return as a couple.

Room Tip: There are only three rooms and they are all large, beautifully decorated and furnished with the same...

We had the fright of our lives when we arrived at the hotel. It looked deserted and delapidated. The outside road was dug up and in a terrible state. We thought that the building could not be a hotel so we drove up an alleyway by the side of the building hoping that the hotel would be hidden behind it and finished up in a police station. After scratching our heads and our wives refusing to get out of the car and wanting to find somewhere else we saw a number code pad by a door at the side of the building. We rang the bell and the owner came out. With trepidation we brave men entered the building into a tiny cluttered hall at the back of which was a very narrow windy staircase which we climbed and came to the first floor only to be told that our rooms were up another very narrow windy staircase to the second floor. When he opened the doors to the room we were delighted by what we found. Very large rooms with sitting chairs, a table with chairs and a very big bed and great views of the town and the famous bridge. We returned to the car to get our 'girls' (young pensioners) to have a look. Once they had navigated the staircases with great care they were also delighted with the rooms. They had super showers in the bathroom although the only toiletries was soap in a pump. We decided to stay even though there was no lounge or breakfast room and you have to eat your breakfast in your room. This would have been an issue if we had been staying more than one night. The really helpful owner who speaks little English reserved a table for us in a restaurant in the town for dinner. The breakfast was fabulous with the best butter croissants and baguette and home made jam and a creamy desert with fruit made by his wife. The photo of the hotel was taken from the garden which is currently being dug up and renovated. I am sure it will be lovely in about a years time and if the weather is good you can have breakfast there although the owner has an awful lot of work to do. They have cats as pets which are very friendly but don't worry if you are allergic as they are not allowed in the hotel. The position is great and it is only a short walk to go into the very pretty town which surrounds a harbour. The restaurants round the harbour are for tourists and more expensive than they should be. We would definitely stay there again but maybe in a years time and only for one night.

Room Tip: Only 3 rooms plus an apartment and all are nice and quiet with great views.

I'd return here in a heart beat and hope to someday. The rooms were big by any countries standards, clean, old world charm and a big appealing courtyard. Our breakfast included fresh croissants from the local baker and hand squeezed orange juice. We walked into Honfleur for dinner and back late at night, all perfectly safe. Our proprietor was very nice and helpful. Our "second" floor room had a huge bath, friend's was bigger than usual and the fish tank we had in Arromanche later! Can't write enough about this quaint place.
