“Nice Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

I stayed at this hotel for two nights during my 58 day trip through Europe. I was in the most inexpensive room class at the hotel. The room was smallish but OK. The bath was nice as were the linens and breakfast. The staff was very helpful with restaurant picks. I had two complaints. The website implies on-site parking. It is actually about four blocks away. Once you get into town, it is pretty obvious that one could not expect on-site parking. The town is old. There is no place for on-site parking. Secondly, the room was across the street from the church. The bells loudly chime every quarter hour from 9AM until 9PM. I would stay there again if I could be further from the church.

We stayed here on Monday evening and would highly recommend it. Location is fantastic and we stayed in a beautiful room ( Chambre 31) with the bedroom and bathroom on different levels. I negotiated a bit ( it was a Monday in November !!) and got the breakfast and parking included in the €179 price. It is expensive but we really, really enjoyed it. There was a huge roaring fire and a very comfortable sofa to sit and relax before heading to the steam room for some more relaxation !! The steam area is small and not very private - one defintely needs swimming togs to avoid embarressment. My wife had a massage which was adequate.

Despite the price I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 31 is great and overlooks an old church - very quiet and picturesque

Albeit this is a $$$ hotel, it is worth the prices for a comfy and charming hotel and rooms. The breakfast spread is excellent at 15 Euros. Cheese freaks will love this. The hotel is well located to visit the town of Honfleur and to access in the town. They have a little parking immediate to the hotel, but a private lot a couple blocks away. The staff were pleasant and helpful. This accommodation may be a bit of a splurge for your travel budget, but if you are going to spend more this is the place to do it. We ran into many couples who came over from the UK for a get-away. We find that it is always fun for us Yanks to chat up with the Brits and share the whys and wherefores of the world.

We found this a delightful Hotel. We had Room 2 which is a better quality class of room as I had read on Tripadvisor about some of the rooms being small. It was very quiet and spacious enough for us two. Breakfast was excellent, if a little quirky to get. You have to circumnavigate Reception to get to the buffet! The only critisism of breakfast was that the coffee, (help yourself from an urn) tasted as though it had been there from 7.00 am - which it probably had. We drank tea! Our two night 12/13th October were a great and relaxing break.

Pros
Nice reception staff
Extremely well located - right in the heart if Honfleur
Surprisingly quiet at night for sleeping
Parking right outside
Good breakfast
Wifi

Cons:
Expensive with few modern amenities (it is a lovely, ancient building however)
Small, gloomy room on top floor
No lift and creaky stairs
No air con - but okay if you keep the curtains drawn in the day to keep the heat out
Parking is limited so you need to be on your toes (don't try driving around the back of the hotel - Honfleur is a on-way nightmare and you wont find it anyway)

Room Tip: Dot get an attic room - it's for midgets

We stayed at the Les Maison de lea, Honfleur for three nights in one of the suites. It was full of character and very clean. The staff were really pleasant and the location was very central for everything. One little tip reserve parking when making your booking, it is only a five minute walk from the hotel but worth the secure parking for a small fee. That is all the positive side, on the negative side.....there is no air conditioning and for the price of the hotel it was a little disappointing good job we took our own small fan or we would have baked.

Lovely hotel with luxuriously appointed bed, huge bathroom, and great location right across the from the church. Be prepared for a potential hike to the room, however, we were up four flights of stairs (some quite narrow) and there is no lift. We found breakfast delicious (we had existed on croissant and pain au chocolat up to this point in our trip) but the price point felt very high for what it was - with no hot option the value just wasn't there. Overall, the hotel just really feels like a perfect fit with the charm of Honfleur itself.

Room Tip: If you are on the square side on market day be prepared for lots of noise as vendors set up, startin...
