“OK for overnight stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2009

Booked a triple room for one night - stopover en route from Lot to Boulogne. Great location within France, although lack of parking makes the hotel not quite ideal within Lisieux. We stayed over on the 15th August, so parking in the square was free as it is a National Holiday.
Did not have breakfast at 10 Euro, had coffee, croisants and juice at the cafe next door for 5 Euros each.
Room was on second floor, lift access - but very tiny - the lift would not accomodate a wheelchair or pram. Our room, 20, was immediately opposite the lift, but there was no noise issue as the room had a small 'lobby' area with an extra door into the main bedroom. Bathroom was large if a little dated, and there was no soap in either dispenser. Bedroom overlooked the main square, lovely large windows with shutters. Comfy large double and a large single bed. Spare pillows in cupboard. No tea or coffee making facilities in room.
Returned to hotel following an evening meal at approx 11pm. Outer door is locked, there is a buzzer entry system.
Overall we would consider this hotel again simply for the location - LIsieux has nice restaurants, cafes and shops and the hotel represented good value for money as we only paid 90 Euros for the room.

My husband, son and myself stayed at this place in Oct08 during the beatification weekend of Blessed Louis and Zelie Martin , parents of St Therese. We loved it here. The place is very clean with spacious rooms and bathrooms. 3 double beds were provided to us. I think it is ran by the owner and family themselves. They were very patient courteous and helpful. The breakfast was very scrumptious offering a variety of cereals, breads, pastries, fruits, cheeses, cold meats, eggs, juices, coffee, tea etc. Definitely value for money. No fridge in room but coffee/tea making facilities available. It is situated across the Cathedral of Saint Peter where St Therese of Lisieux was baptised. Very central with a nice little french bistro next door and shops close by. I highly recommend this place. Though the owner, Jeanine does not speak english very much, she could manage to communicate in french-english and was very nice and pleasant. In-house laundry is available at very very affordable rates. Clean and comfortable. The elevator was small just like any other in most of Europe, but it was no problem at all. You will enjoy this place.

I booked this hotel because of its central location. We were driving through Lisieux, and I thought it would give us a good starting point for a walk around the town. As it turned out, there wasn't much time for walking and, after lots of driving, it was more time to relax.
Although the staff were friendly and very helpful, the hotel itself isn't really a place to relax in. Whilst the room had a balcony, it was very dated, with some pretty funky (in the 70s) chairs. The bathroom was slightly odd - the bath was sort of sarcophagus shaped, and would only be able to offer a relaxing bath to a child or very short person.
Breakfast wasn't included in the price and I would not recommend spending €9 per person on quite a sparse breakfast. Better to find a boulanger nearby.
I don't want to complain too much, because the lady who seemed like the manager of the hotel was very helpful to us.
However, I probably wouldn't stay there again. It didn;t seem to offer very good value for money.

I tried to book a room, got a reply that the date was unavailable. Then I find that my credit card got charged with the nights accommodation. So when they request your credit card to give you a price and availability of a room beware that they will charge you for the night anyhow so use these agencys at your peril
