“Feels Like Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

This is a lovely little spot which felt like home as soon as we stepped inside. It's ecclectic, comfortable and we enjoyed our visit thoroughly. The service was wonderful and we felt looked after and welcome. The food was yummy and we look forward to returning.

The place is very nice, very relaxed, nice rooms very nice bathrooms. The restaurant or "lounge" as it is called, is great. Very nice people, they have good food, the best cheesecake I ever tried (seriously, I travel quite extensively, and this cheesecake was the best) made by Helen, the internet area is nice as well. The only minimal issue, was that during the day you get wifi from the restaurant which is great, then at night you get wifi from the hostel and it is terrible, basically not functioning (Hopefully Mo's will read this and act upon). but, in brief, great place and would definitely recommend

Stayed at hostel and ate at restaurant and much enjoyed ourselves. The hostel was clean and we were the only guests. Free washer and dryer was a plus. Private room was really nice and pletny of bathroom space. Wifi should be improved, very slow. The restaurant was wonderful. The three ladies working there were very friendly and welcoming. The chowder was great. The cheesecake was to die for. Helen makes it from scratch on site and the blueberry chocolate cheesecake kept us coming again and again for dessert! It was a nice place to stay to break up the drive from cabot trail to cape chignecto.

I visited Mo's for coffee after participating in the "Not Since Moses" 5 km Run. Mo's has a relaxed atmosphere, where you can lounge around and serves up some great food (pizza is great)! Mo's also where the race participants went to pick-up our race kits and were we assembled before the race. It is the heart of the community and should not be missed if you are in the area.

Five Islands boasts about having the highest tides in the world and it is here where over 1000 people run annually on the bottom of its ocean floor at the “Not Since Moses" event. However it is Mo’s where one finds the heart beat of the community. It is the hope of any traveler to discover such a place to feast on local homemade food such as clam chowder and flounder while surrounded by local art. On a Friday night local “down home” musical talent delight all Mo's guests who become part of this Maritime “kitchen party.” Tourists claim this to be “a true find!”

I've been to Mo's three times now, all during the annual Not Since Moses race. The owner of Mo's, Dick Lemon, is also the creator of Not Since Moses, a 5-km or 10-km run on the ocean's floor at low tide. Completely without precedent and attracting over 1,000 runners annually, this event has put Five Islands on the map for hundreds of people who were unaware of the splendid community.

Mo's is at the heart of the action. Internet café, hostel, restaurant, gathering place, and a little piece of home all spun into one. The food is fantastic. The staff are friendly and charming. Clean, upbeat, eclectic and homey all together. My experiences in Five Islands, and at Mo's in particular, have stayed in my mind and caused me to recommend it as a destination for family and friends alike.

There are ample things about Mo's to rave about. Do yourself a favour, and take the drive to Five Islands. You won't regret it.

Mo's in Five Islands ("downtown" as they like to say) is a great spot for a quick lunch or a longer dinner. Wood-fired pizzas are excellent, and all their dishes feature fresh ingredients which are also as local as possible. All the artwork gives local flavour as well. The place fills us quickly when there is evening entertainment - come early! The community spirit is palpable!
