We needed to spend 1 night in Caen before we drove to the ferry port and this hotel was very close to the Caen ringroad. Ibis is a chain of cheaper French hotels which we haven't used before. If others are as good as this, we would use them again for short stays.
The room was very clean and had sufficient for our needs. There was not much storage space, but since most people are only staying for a few days - this shouldn't be a major problem. The bathroom unit was small but spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable.
Ibis operate a 15 minute guarantee - if there's a problem for which they are responsible and they can't fix it in 15 minutes, you stay as their guest. This is a very interesting idea which other hotels should consider offering - it would improve standards.
It would have been nice to be able to have coffee/tea making facilities but for €49 you can't have everything.
