“It's all about the food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

This is an excellent restaurant. The food is exceptional. We opted for the 'Intuition' 5 course tasting menu and were not disappoined. Every course surpassed the next in flavour, execution and attention to detail. We were especially impressed with the service, which was attentive and professional whilst also being very welcoming and friendly. Not in the least bit stuffy. Being foreigners, we were something of a novelty for the waiter, who explained that most tourists don't manage to secure a table, as they are generally booked up several weeks in advance. (I had booked 2 months ahead - having read the reviews :) ) As such, he seemed delighted to have the opportunity to practice his english. In short, if you are planning a trip to Caen, do make a special effort to book a table here. I would definitely go back.

“The best restaurant in Caen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

This was our second visit to the restaurant, on this occasion for dinner. We chose the menu L’Intuition @ €48, five courses chosen by the chef (the maitre’d does ask if you have any dislikes or allergies). As on our previous visit, we were very impressed by all our courses, which were not only well executed but also modern and creative.

The entrée of veal and langoustine was very good and beautifully seasoned. The fish course, a generous portion of turbot was perfect. To follow was venison which was accompanied by an innovative selection of vegetables that perfectly complemented the meat. We chose the chef’s interpretation of camembert, which proved light and tasty. One of the desserts of beetroot puree, fresh raspberries and rose water cream was delicious – give it a try. Service was efficient and attentive, which made our evening a totally agreeable experience.

Just one point, the restaurant is small and very popular, so advance booking is essential. We tried 3 times in previous months and were unable to secure a table!

“Exciting Discovery in Caen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012

We visited the restaurant for the first time after the Friday market in Caen. The 4 of us chose the €38 menu of 3 courses chosen by the chef. At the time, we were asked if we had any particular allergies or ingredients we did not like. As it was Friday, the chef put the emphasis on fish. The starter of Langoustine, smoked haddock and a fish tartare was delicious. Followed by a Monkfish dish of the highest quality. The portion sizes were just perfect and the presentation excellent. The chef clearly understands the benefit of dishes with complimentary flavours and textures.

As we live just outside Caen, we plan to return and try the €48, 5 course dinner menu.
