“Cute hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

Well what can i say about this little adventure, The hotel is located in-between two abbeys and has a castle located wright behind it. Our room was on the third floor and gave use great views! The room it self was great, had a little old world meets new and the bathroom was awesome! huge tub and great shower. Very hot in the room but the front desk has fans so just ask. The staff for the most part spoke english but if they did not speak well we would always figure it out. That was kinda fun, shared lots of laughs with the laddies there over the fact that all i could say was thank you and yes. and there english at times fell short. Great people, but the restaurant well that was hardly open and well that was a problem with the hole town, it closed down at 5pm so if you forgot some thing to bad for you. Must speak French well to get around better than we did.

We stayed here as a base to visit sites in Normandy. Our room was large and clean; We had difficulty regulating the heat and air conditioning. The bathroom was modern and attractive. Biggest complaint we had was the hairdryer was a relic-I rely on a decent blow dryer-and my hair looked terrible and not dry for the entire stay. Also, they are stingy with supplies. We stayed three days and the combination body wash/shampoo was never replaced (had to buy our own). We even came very close to running out of toilet paper. This is not a cheap hotel-so they should have done a lot better. We did not eat in the restaurant because it was overpriced for the area. Also Caen is dreadfully shut down on Sundays so there were few places we found opened. Wish we had stayed in Bayeux instead.

This hotel has average rooms with the most lumpy mattresses I have encountered. We did not eat at the restaurant because it was overpriced. No one else did either except for one couple we saw in the restaurant on ONE occasion.

The hotel is stingy on towels. You have to practically beg if you want extra towels to wash your hair. No vending machines for ice either. Luckily, the unused restaurant must have ice because the desk staff can come up with some if you request it

The hotel desk staff also tries to be helpful with directions and translation if necessary. That was a plus.

We unfortunately visited Caen on Thursday May 8 which was VE Day in France -- Caen was "closed". We stayed thru Sunday May 11. Caen is also "closed" on Sundays! Visited Mont St Michel on Friday, May 9. The Abbeye was closed due to a strike! We felt sorry for the Tour guide who didn't know it was closed until we arrived after a 1 1/2 hour drive because the striking Abbeye personnel waited until 9 a.m. to post notice they were striking that day.

On the other hand, the Caen Memorial Museum and it's tour to the D-day beaches (which we took on Saturday May 10) was wonderful. Many people on the tour took this tour as a day trip from Paris instead of staying in Caen...... which was certainly "do-able."

All in all -- we've "almost" been to Caen but won't be going back.

Deviated 50 ks on a business trip to stay at this hotel known from previous visits. Hotel is in the centre of town, 20 minutes from the car ferry much of the hotel is in a former convent but very stylishly and sympathetically restored. But the restaurant staff, chef and food are sublime. You can dine very well on their fixed price menu or their bar meals which are superb but the al carte menu is a 6 star, 6 course wonderful affair for about Euros 100 - I doubt you will dine better in such wonderful surroundings in France or anywhere else. Parking is a bit tight in the hotel car park but public car parking is opposite the hotel. Wonderful location for battle field visits in June.

Room Tip: All are good the convent rooms may be quieter than the main hotel rooms.

I stayed here for 2 nights and got deal for (stay, Breakfast and Dinner). The front desk speak very good English and are very pleasing. This hotel is walkable from the Twisto Terminal and accessible easily from the Old Fort and Restaurant circles. The rooms were very clean with high speed Wifi. Parking is very limited and people use the nearby shopping mall for parking in the night. There is a good Spa and Fitness center right in the hotel.
Suprises and spoilers: No Elevators for the rooms, at some distance from the river side and city center.

we stayed here for 4 days in December. The hotel was in a great location - but parking was very limited, we managed to park outside the hotel as it was not full - but in season I can imagine it being very difficult to impossible. Parking in the roads outside seemed also impossible even in December as it was so busy, and was metered so quite expensive.
Out price included breakfast which was very good. However we only ate at other times once as it was very over priced. I think we paid 12 euros for 2 chocolate drinks while in the town we paid 5 euros for two just as good.
Also had an argument with member of staff as to whether we had been given 2 tea bags - completely ridiculous - got an apology in the end as we hadn't been given any but you don't expect to be called a liar to your face - so take your own tea bags and avoid bridget the tea bag monitor.
we didn't use the spa.
I wouldn't go again especially in the summer because of the parking.

Room Tip: Rooms on the road which is most very noisey
