Pros:
- Nice location at the center of Caen
- Nice bed / sleep quality
- Nice shower
- Free wi-fi that works
- Nice value

Cons:
- Expensive parking (10 EUR/night)
- Low quality towels
- Staff could be more pleasant but nothing to worry about
- Small room (exactly the same as other Ibis - standard - I have nothing to complain about it)

Hoorah: Ibis Centre - a French establishment that does not use American English.

Very clean hotel, adequately sized bedroom with reasonable storage, good shower, very comfortable bed (and good quality bed linen) and an on-site restaurant that was ok for an evening meal but had a splendid breakfast, both in range and, if you wished, size. Our third floor room was very quiet over two nights (and had an opening window for fresh air).

Restaurant staff were very smiley, friendly and efficient, those on reception were just a bit off the mark.

All in all, having booked via Brittany Ferries, we thought it excellent value for money at 3* and ideal for two or three nights, say.
Trams and buses very close by (all trams go to the station) - there is public parking opposite (free overnight) and there are a variety of restaurants very near (La Storia is a pleasant Italian in Rue Neuve St Jean).

Caen has to have more traffic lights per km than anywhere else - usually on red - and signposting is not good.

We spent a night at Ibis Caen Centre. The room & bathroom were extremely clean and simple. The hotel staff was friendly. Hotel breakfast is 19 euros for 2 people. They offer a variety of food - croissants, cereals, ham & cheese and fresh fruit. The fig jam was delicious. The hotel is located 30 minutes (by car) away from D-day beaches (e.g. Utah Beach). The hotel was easy to find once you enter the city of Caen.

Stayed at Ibis Caen Centre recently as we were keen to explore the centre and visit the art gallery. The hotel is well situated by the marina and only a short walk from the centre and castle. The room was very clean and comfortable, quiet ( good glazing) and air conditioned (an advantage on a warm night). Secure underground parking is available for 10 euro for 24hrs - good value for a city centre. The adjoining Courtepaile restaurant was excellent -the nicest steak on our recent trip to France!
A good value overnight stay

This hotel sits in the town centre and has great location. The rooms are clean and tidy and the hotel is quiet with professional staff. You do have to yank the bathroom doors hard so be warned. The breakfast is good with a wide variety of choices, but don't worry about dinner as you are within walking distance of the restaurant sector of the town and will be spoilt for choice.
