We wanted a convenient location in order to site see to Rouen, Mont Saint Michel and Bayeux. Caen is not the prettiest town but is a very convenient base. Plenty of coffee shops and places for dinner, however the quality varied.
The Ibis is very clean and tidy with very helpful receptionists. The room was compact but clean, tidy and quiet. We both slept very well :0)
We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant, except to grab a coffee on the last morning.... I would recommend going to one of the many coffee shops in the town to get your coffee fix!
