“Wonderful home and host”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

My family was just amazed when they saw Hotel Tardif. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and had a beautiful view of the garden. 1 room had a queen size bed and the other had a pair of twin beds. The rooms were spacious and we were all very comfortable. We highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is about 10 minutes away from the train station and is an easy walk.

The Hotel Tardif was just what we needed while journeying around Normandy. It was a beautiful chateau hidden right in the middle of Bayeux. The home was comfortable, quiet and elegant. Anthony the host was really helpful and friendly - the breakfast was everything you would need (and he even offered to make us french toast!) The rooms were a little dated and 'antique', but not uncomfortable at all...the decor was quite charming. The grounds were simply beautiful, and our car was locked within the gates overnight for security and peace of mind. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing experience.

My friends and I chose the Hotel Tardif on the basis of the hotel's website and tripadvisor reviews, both of which can still be a bit of a gamble. This gamble paid off. The Tardif is exactly as the website photos look. Elegant, spacious, beautifully decorated, serene. Our room for seven nights was plenty spacious for three friends, with a beautifully appointed bath, writing desk, table and chairs, and comfortable beds. Anthony, the proprietor, has the 18th century mansion furnished in beautiful antiques and is a most hospitable host. We found him to be gracious and helpful in every way. Family style breakfast in the large dining room with croissants, baguettes, fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, hot chocolate or tea and home made breakfast breads and fruit tarts is the perfect way to begin each day. The Tardif was perfectly located to use as a home base for the D-Day beaches, San Malo, Mont St. Michel, and other sights in Normandy. Highly recommend.

I can only second the other reviews and say that this is a wonderful, comfortable, warm and quiet place to stay. Warm meaning the service provided by Anthony. The stone walls of this old Manor make it extremely quiet for a great nights sleep and we felt extremely comfortable during our three night stay.
We were on the second floor in a large room facing the driveway. Bed was large and comfy, slightly firm. Plenty of room to stretch out and unpack your things. Better shower and towels would be my only suggestion for improvement.

The guesthouse is set in a private mansion built in the 18th century, former residence of a botanist who worked at the gardens of Versailles. The place has a lot of charm, exhibiting original furniture, consistent historical decoration, and attention given to small atmospheric details. There is a large and beautiful garden, where you can have breakfast, read a book of simply relax. The overall impression is of traditional refined French elegance in a familiar atmosphere, associated with contemporary comfort and perfect peacefulness away from current town noise. Anthony is a charming host, very friendly and caring, always available to give you lot of good advises and ideas. The guesthouse is located in a pleasant area, a few steps from the Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry, as well as from the medieval Cathedral and the old streets around it. There is a free parking for guests in the private courtyard.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with garden view, at the first floor (better ventilated).

My husband and stayed at the Tardiff for only one night and were very satisfied. Our room was large and had a large bathroom as well. As others have noted, the hotel is a lovely property and is very well-situated to see the sights of Bayeux. I was surprised to read that one guest found Anthony unhelpful. Our experience - and I might note - the experience of the many other reviewers - was just the opposite. We found Anthony very helpful and anxious that we would have a good impression of his hotel and its management. He succeeded with us. We recommend your staying there.

My wife and I spent three nights at the Guesthouse in May and had a wonderful time. The location is perfect and the hotel is extremely nice. Anthony, the owner, was very friendly and attended to our every need. He was also very knowledgable regarding the history of the area and helpful with the planning of some of our tours.

We stayed in many different places on this trip the Hotel Tardif Noble was our favorite.
