“Great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

The staff were lovely and helpful with suggestions. We had rented a car and asked to have a taxi called, so that we could pick it up. Instead, they gave us a ride themselves! No charge. We chose to have breakfast at the hotel. They accommodated the time for us, so we could have breakfast earlier. It had many offerings, including the local cider and cheeses, along with delicious bread, yoghurt and juices, with a cappuccino machine. The room itself was sparse, but I did not have high expectations and so, we were not disappointed. For the price, a great experience. Walking distance to downtown, the train station and the Bayeux cathedral was a big plus. I would also recommend renting a car; it is inexpensive and a great way to see the country, without spending loads of money on a tour. You can always download an app. that provides an audio tour of the beaches.

This was a great place for us to rest in between a D-Day tour and viewing the Bayeux Tapestry.

The staff were extremely friendly, chatty, interested in what sorts of things my husband and I like to do and what sorts of things we like to eat. They made a number of lovely recommendations and several jokes about the Prime Minister of Canada being a friend of the owner (have a look on the wall to the right of reception). They were happy to flip-flop between French and English, whatever made us feel more comfortable.

I chose this hotel based off of the positive reviews, but was very disappointed. Our room was not clean when we arrived, in fact, it was trashed with McDonalds and soda bottles all over the place. The management was very apologetic, but it set a bad first impression. After the room was prepared for us, we found it still wasn't very clean. The bathroom smelled pretty terrible and the floors weren't clean. The beds are very firm and pillows very small, so we had a hard time sleeping because the beds hurt our backs. But if you are used to firm beds, then it might be okay. There are no toiletries, so be sure to bring your own. Breakfast was just okay for 10 euro. We all (3 of us) got ill from the eggs on the last day of our stay. It made for a very miserable train back to Germany having food poisoning! There is no heating mechanism for the hot food they serve (buffet style), so I should've known it was a bad idea eating from it. Overall I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. If you have the money, stay at one of the other better ranked hotels in Bayeux.

My daughter and I stayed here on the last part of our trip in France. The hotel is a short walk from the train station. About 10 min. The staff welcomed us when we arrived and were so friendly. It felt like we were back in the states. Everybody spoke English. The front desk set us up with a last minute tour of Normandy beaches for the following day. The hotel is in walking distance of town which has restaurants, beautiful church and local shops. The scenery is beautiful. We had run out of clean laundry and it was too expensive to have done so my daughter and I washed a few items in the sink and hung to dry in the bathroom. When we came back from our day trip, all our laundry had been laundered and folded neatly on our beds. No charge! I just really loved this place. We felt safe and welcomed. The staff helped us with anything we needed. They went above and beyond. We almost forgot we were in France. There were many Americans living and visiting in the area. I would stay here again for sure!

Friendly hotel on the fringes of the central part of Bayeux, two blocks from the cathedral, several minutes walk from the tapestry. Rooms are clean and well attended, with the amenities you'd expect at at three-star establishment. The family who run the hotel are very engaging and helpful with things such as parking, making dinner reservations, suggesting guides and tour itineraries.

Basic hotel , very clean , very friendly staff, good situ.
Staff were very knowledgable of the local area and were happy to suggest somewhere to go for a pint and a restaurant or two.
Would recommend and stay again.

Hotel Le Bauyeux was very welcoming. Basic hotel and amenities, but you can't beat the price and location. It's located within walking distance of the train station, Bayeux Tapestry, some museums, and a great base for tours of the D-Day Beaches. The hotel staff was friendly, welcoming, and recommended a great place to eat. We were able to check-in early when we arrived via train. The rooms are clean, hairdryer is available. I'd reserved a room for four online, but when I arrived was told those rooms are for 2 adults and 2 children (we were a group of 4 adults). At no extra cost, they moved us to 2 rooms -- I can't say enough about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff here. Highly recommended unless you absolutely have to have five-star amenities.
