“Good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

We had a very comfortable stay at Hotel Le Bayeux. It was clean, well located and the staff were very helpful - they even recommended us a cosy restaurant and offered to give us detailed information on the sites around. Perhaps, the only inconvenience is that it doesn't have an elevator. We'd recommend it.

We only stayed here one night when we couldn't get a third night at Hotel Churchill and while from the reviews and pictures we didn't expect it to be quite has good as the Churchill for the price we did expect a little more. The location is good and the rooms seemed clean if a bit musty. Our room was on the ground floor which was nice as there is no elevator. However our window looked out onto the parking lot and there was only a very sheer curtain over the window so there was little privacy plus noise from the people parking. There were also no glasses or cups in the room. Our traveling companions stayed in a room on the first floor (2nd floor in US) and their only window was a skylight. That solved the people looking into your room problem but as it didn't open I would imagine that room gets very hot in the summer time. We were there in late September so no problem with that. The honor bar in the lobby was nice for drinks and snacks. We left before breakfast so can't comment on that but the breakfast area looked very nice. When we tried to call between our rooms we couldn't. First we were told we could by dialing certain numbers but after several tries we were finally told that the phone service wasn't working. Something about a storm. Since there was no clock in the room, we wanted a wake up call but with no phones that was out of the question also. The manager, who was quite nice, went thru a pile of alarm clocks until he found one that worked and that solved the problem. I would say that the hotel overall is about equal to an average Super 8 in the US but at 120 euros we expected privacy, glasses and a clock. None of that would be hard or expensive to fix We probably wouldn't stay here again but if you just want a place to sleep and within walking distance of the town center and sights it's an option. Just ask for a room with real curtains or one on the second floor with a window that opens if it's summer.

Room Tip: Ask for one with real curtains and if it is summer avoid the ones with only skylights.

We booked this hotel fairly last minute and picked it primarily because I knew it was near the Bayeux Tapestry and that is well sign posted as you enter town. The hotel reception staff were really helpful and friendly and even recommended a nice restaurant giving us a discount voucher for it too. As we arrived fairly late by motorcycles we were keen to have somewhere secure to put them. We needn't have worried. They were secured under cover and we were only charged a nominal fee. The breakfast choice was vast and tasty. I would have no hesitation of recommending this hotel to anyone.

Great hotel! Location was perfect, beds very comfortable, great shower. Room was a little small, but we expected that. Breakfast was very good. Front desk staff could not have been more helpful. Booked us a tour to Mont St. Michel and recommended places to eat. One of us became ill, and they arranged an appointment with a doctor, and even sent a staff member along to translate at the doctor's office and the pharmacy. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff is incredible--they really go out of their way to help with whatever you need. The rooms are small and spartan, but very clean and comfortable. You can walk to everything, great location. The breakfast buffet is excellent.

Room Tip: Upstairs is quieter.

Friendly staff and very nice rooms, really enjoyed my stay there. Nice location, easy to get to the tour starting points, but also to walk around town. Easy to find from the train station as well, just go toward the cathedral and you'll see a big sign for it! Enjoyed the trip and felt very welcomed at Bayeux.

Great location; room decor a little eclectic and bed rather firm. Has all the conveniences you could want including 2 English channels. What really puts them over the top was the great personnel at the front desk! They quickly made restaurant reservations, arranged a bus tour to Mont St. Michel for us. After I was stung by a huge wasp on the little bus at Mt. St. M., I decided to go to the Emergency at the hospital which was a block away... staff at the front desk was very helpful and engaged in my problem. On my return, they wanted to know how things turned out and were very sympathetic. It was a very good experience overall.
