“Very Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

The Churchill is located in the center of Bayeux. Filled with WWII photos and memorabilia, it provides a wonderful sense of the D-Day events in the area. We had a spacious room; our only complaint was that the WIFI service is substandard--very spotty. We were not, for example, able to Skype from our room.

The Mr and I stayed here for one night prior to a D-Day tour. The hotel was comfortable and well located to all the sites of Bayeux. The room was good sized, clean, and had ample storage space. The bathroom was modern with a good size shower. We had a little trouble with the free WiFi but we were in a top floor room. It worked well in other areas.

We chose to eat breakfast in the hotel and found it to be tasty and a good value. The breakfast room was light, bright, and charming.

Bayeux is a lovely town and just what this Texas couple would visualize as the French countryside. Next time we will stay longer in Bayeux.

All the staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant.

We stayed in room 15, one night, located directly off the lobby. Thought there would be a noise issue, but, not so. The double doors solved that issue. The bathroom (glass shower only) was excellent, spacious and bright. Room was comfortable and spacious; also had a single twin bed, besides the king. The breakfast buffet was sufficient, but not extraordinary. Staff were pleasant.

This is a wonderful place to stay as home base for Normandy Beaches and US Cemetery. The rooms were comfortable and the hotel is full of pictures of American GIs and locals after liberation. The staff was very accommodating and went out of their way to secure transportation to local sites for us. The Tapestry is next door and the cathedral is around the block. Great shopping in this little town as well. Breakfast was great and the server was extremely friendly. I totally recommend this hotel. Overall a perfect choice!

Recently, my husband and I and several folks on a tour of the Normandy beaches stayed here. Our room was small but charming, impeccably neat, and comfortable. The bathroom always had hot water and was also kept spotless. Every morning, we awoke to the smell of baking bread, and our breakfast was tasty and hot. Served by Louisa, who greeted us with a cheery, Bonjour, madame, monsieur, we felt like royalty. The entire staff was helpful and efficient, and the decor was an interesting mix of photos from WWII. The location is great as a base for exploring Normandy and of course for seeing the lovely cathedral and the Bayeux tapestry. If we ever go back, I know where we're staying!

Stayed here for three nights in mid May. Used Bayeux as home base for touring D Day locations. Perfect location, the town, untouched by WWII was great. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful in all respects. While there is no elevator, one of the staff took my large bag upstairs for me. The only negative was that the breakfast provided was a bit pricey. Anyone visiting the D Day beaches, museums, and German gun batteries would be well served by staying at the Churchill.

Room Tip: On Wednesday the street in front of the hotel turns into a market beginning around 6AM. If you nee...

This hotel was very comfortable with rooms that were well appointed. The bathroom was large and updated. The whole hotel is very charming, with many WWII photos, decorations.
The breakfast buffet was a bit pricey for what there was, but it was convenient. One can find pastry shops nearby, if desired. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The parking can be a bit tricky, because meters need to be fed coins during the day. This isn't a problem overnight. There is a free parking lot not too far away, but it was full every time we checked it.

Room Tip: Room overlooking the courtyard one floor up was very nice.
