This museum is quite unique. There is only ONE item in it! One very, very long tapestry!
You are given headphones and then move through and around the museum viewing an incredibly long tapestry that tells the story in sewn, embroidered pictures of how William the Duke of Normandy, became William the Conqueror. You move silently with the crowd around the stretched out tapestry listening as the story unfolds. The room itself is dark. No photos are allowed in that room, but there are sample scenes in other room and in the gift shop to photo as a memory. The length of this piece of art, and the detailed workmanship is just amazing. It was a wonderful visit to see it, not because of the art, but it's age and how it reveals a history lesson in captivating detail.
