“Wonderfully Evocative”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Out of more than 20 small hotels and B&B's we have patronized in Europe, this is, by far, the most evocative. The building itself is a step back - WAY back - in time, but with the cleanliness and conveniences modern travelers want. The spacious room was stone -- floors and walls -- yet somehow bright and cheerful. The bed, bathroom, breakfast, and other amenities are all top-notch. And Bayeux is much more than a gateway to the Normandy beaches: it's a truly beautiful and fascinating town in its own right. As others have noted, Jean Pierre, who struggles a bit with English, is nonetheless a perfect host. As is to be expected, parking can be tight. Once we were settled in and mentioned the parking situation, our host suggested trying the spots surrounding the park a block away, and that worked well for the balance of our stay. One final note is that the B & B takes cash only -- a fact that our guidebook failed to mention. Never fear, there are ATM's nearby. This is simply a great place to stay!

We stayed at this amazing B&B for three nights in October while visiting Normandy. Our room in the stone tower was beyond description! The bed was incredibly comfortable, the beautiful bath provided extra thick towels, and the entire room was meticulously clean. Our hosts were not only welcoming but also very informative about the area. Our breakfasts were excellent and served in such a beautiful and relaxing setting.Bayeux is lovely and so interesting. We actually changed our plans so we could spend more time in the town.We feel so grateful that we found this gem!

Room Tip: All three rooms are beautiful.

This 3 bedroom B&B in a 15th century stone tower in the charming town of Bayeux is a true gem. On a trip to Paris, Normandy and London with my two sisters and their husbands we found this B&B and it couldn't have been more perfect. We took up the entire B&B for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The rooms are beautifully decorated in a warm and inviting country French decor and every detail was planned. Jean Pierre and his wife Catherine were lovely hosts providing us each morning with delicious breakfast of fresh pastries, fruit, yogurt and coffee in their home next door, but connected with the same interior courtyard. All this and the price was very reasonable. It is located within walking distance of the cathedral and the Bayeux Tapestry and is a great location for touring the D-Day beaches.

Everything about this elegant B&B worked perfectly, from an internet reservation to arrival and departure. Highly recommended by both the Michelin Red Guide and Rick Steves, Le Manoir Sainte Victoire proved the ratings were -- if anything -- understated. The property is quiet, elegant, and well-located near key tourist sites (Bayeux Tapestry, Cathedral, textile workshop), and hosted by a charming couple who truly understand hospitality balanced with discrete respect for travellers' privacy. Although on-site parking is not available, abundant safe parking either on the street or in a parking facilities is immediately available. Our only regret is that the stay was not long enough.

We stayed here for two nights in mid September 2012, in the Miro room. It is a charming room, beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed, nice linen, big thick towels in the bathroom and nice toiletries provided. Jean Pierre is an excellent host, and provided a wonderful home made fruit dish each morning, served with juice, tea or coffee and croissants, jams etc. all beautifully laid in the house dining room. We felt very spoilt. It's only a few minutes walk from the Cathedral, which is beautiful, and the Square where we were to meet up for our D Day tour. The Bayeux Tapestry is also within a few minutes walk. Bayeux is a nice town, with lots of interesting shops and places to eat. We would have loved to have stayed longer, and would certainly stay at Le Manoir Sainte Victoire again.

stayed 3 nites on a Rick Steve's recc. No parking, but owner Jean Pierre helped us find a slot on a nearby narrow alley. circular stone stairway to rooms adds to the effect you're visiting a downtown medieval castle. Walk-in shower, double bathroom sinks, and wi-fi adds to 21st century effect. Breakfast (at the time of your choosing) is usual euro menu, plus a warm tart right out of the oven. Magnifique! Short walk to anything in urban core.

Room Tip: upper rooms further above street noise

The 13th century tower of three bedrooms is impressive. Each room named after an artist, whose paintings are displayed. Our Miro room was pretty with its furniture, bedding, toile drapery and bed spread; very comfortable bed/pillows; two windows for light with views of neighboring yards. Bathroom very nice with little window, two sinks, large walk-in shower, plush towels. Kitchenette perfect. Little cake snack on arrival, TV. 17th century breakfast room is so lovely. Wonderful, filling, continental bkfst includes something homemade daily, and at least 15 jams/jellies, all accompanied by beautiful music selections (especially Les Voix de Daia), making you want to stay in that room all day long. The owners, Jean-Pierre, Catherine and daughter Victoire were welcoming, gracious and friendly. Stay here and treat yourself; you will not be disappointed and will plan to return.

Room Tip: They are all good rooms.
