“The worst night's sleep of our month in France”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2011

The room itself was large and reasonably attractive. The hotel itself was somewhat quaint. The location was directly behind the main street of the town, so near to shops and restaurants. But, the main criteria for a hotel should be whether or not you got a good night's sleep, and we definitely did not. The room itself was too hot for sleeping comfortably, and there were no fans provided (we asked)--leaving our window open was impossible, because the noise of the traffic on the street directly below (we were on the second floor) was very loud. The mattress sagged terribly in the middle--halfway through the night, I got down on the floor and slept on the covers we had thrown down there. There was no sleep to be had here. The bathroom was large, and the closet was large. It was only two blocks from an excellent restaurant--Le Pommier (reservations needed). I would never stay in this place again. We also had some friends who stayed in Bayeux, at The Churchhhill (which is the number one rated hotel on this site), and they reported a bad night's sleep as well, so maybe it is just as well to skip Bayeux and find a hotel elsewhere. The main street is charming--the town is worth a lookabout, and the retaurant Le Pommier is great, but otherwise, find a better hotel elsewhere.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room if you have to stay here, and twin beds might be a better choice.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights - excellent value booked as part of package with Brittany Ferries- we had the pink bedroom, wallpaper and ceiling paper the same!! The breakfast was brilliant , plenty of choice, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, ham cheese eggs croissants, fresh bread, cake, and pain au chocolate, coffeee, tea orange juice.
Their evening meal was also excellent - we opted for the 28euro menu - five courses,
lovely. Last night we were there we could not get into the restaurant even though we were residents. Found a fantastic bistro style restaurant just down the street. The hotel was central fro all the sights - we had to pay 9euros per night parking

Of all the hotels we stayed at on this trip, this was the best. Rooms were lovely and comfortable, with loads of storage. Bed was huge and so comfortable I could have stayed there all holiday. Very handy just across from the station but with good windows preventing sound disturbance. Lovely place

Our stay was for 2 nights - location is superb - short walk to the town centre & the cathedral. Our room was quite large, however it was quite dated. We had no horror stories, but we also weren't overly amazed by anything - really just average. We didn't try the breakfast, we weren't impressed when we had a quick look. Car parking is on site for a fee.

Good location, large room and clean but half of the amenities in the room did not work : jacuzzi, radio, some lamps, magnifying mirror...Got charge 46 euros for 2 cots per nights!!!! Kind of expensive, still good experience...Nice breakfast and bar.

This was the only accommodation we could find on spec in Bayeux, and all they had was a "suite" at 150 euros. That meant one large room, with a large marble bathroom, and both in the most appalling taste: bright blue featured very prominently! The lighting was dreadful, both for reading and for make-up, there was no exhaust fan in the toilet, and it had a square seat on a round bowl! The hairdryer fused, and the promised TV in English did not eventuate. When we activated the spa-bath, it dispersed algae into the tub. Clearly, it had not been used, or cleaned, for some time! To add insult to injury, a cold breakfast was 12 euros per person, and we paid 9 euros for parking. So 183 euros for a very mediocre experience. The staff were also mediocre: not rude, but distant and not helpful.
I give this place a rating of one, only because it is well-located. And do come to Bayeux: the tapestry is marvellous!

Stayed here for 3 nights for a Normandy tour booked through Brittany Ferries. Plus points: good location, modern rooms, reasonable rates. Bad points: often busy with coach parties so service suffers, few staff.
