“Above average rooms and an average restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

This hotel is ideally located for a visit to Bayeux and the D-Day landing beaches. On the north edge of town, yet close enough to walk in for your morning croissant, you'll be at the beaches in less than 30 minutes.

The rooms are larger than standard for European hotels and have tea kettles, hair dryers and a small fridge. The bathrooms are modern and efficient. There was no electric plug in our bathroom but my wife carries an extension cord for her curling iron since the majority of hotels seem to not have plugs near a mirror.

The wifi was sufficient for surfing the web and emailing but not for VOIP calls. For a small fee you can upgrade from the free service for faster connections. The TV has BBC for your english-speaking enjoyment. The free parking is a plus.

The restaurant is OK but there are several restaurants nearby (10-15 minute walk) that are much better. It was raining when we were here this trip so we chose to eat in. When in doubt, order an omelet and frites (french fries). The bar in the lobby offers espresso in the morning and breakfast is available in the restaurant.

We've stayed here before and will stay here next time. It's a consistently good value in a good location. We've never had a noise problem with this hotel despite it's proximity to a roundabout and a football stadium.

“Very nice hotel, GREAT location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

My husband and I used Bayeux as our base for exploring the D-Day Beach area (great choice). We were traveling by train, no car, and this hotel worked out great! It was an 8e cab ride from the train station to hotel. The hotel staff was wonderful, food in the hotel restaurant very good, nice bar area in lobby for night cap etc., and the grounds were lovely. Our room was a nice size as was the bathroom, very clean, with comfortable bed! It is about a 15-20 min walk to the center of town down a lovely, safe street. In the morning we'd walk to town and pick up wonderful bakery goods on the way with coffee for breakfast or sandwiches for lunch on the go. It was an easy walk back to hotel from town center after dinner and we always felt very safe.

Room Tip: Rooms on side overlooking pool/garden area very quite.

“Great location, clean hotel, large quiet rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

Bayeux is a sleepy little town with quaint houses, good restaurants, a beautiful cathedral and excellent access to the World War II historical beaches and museums. We spent three nights in this hotel while we explored the area. The hotel was clean, nicely decorated and had a friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were large and included a queen bed and a single pull out couch if needed. Each room also had a refrigerator and they gave you a bottle of regular water and a bottle of mineral water with gas. The hotel was very quiet and comfortable. There was a pool, a bar, and a dining room. Breakfast was a buffet with meats, eggs, fruit, croissants, french breads and more. The hotel was about a 15-20 minute easy walk into the town. The location of this hotel offered ready access to the major highways that led to all of the sights from history , in this area.

“Great, reliable, comfortable but non "atmospheric" hotel in Bayeux !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

I'm a tour guide and when I visit Bayeux I could choose to stay in more expensive and more "atmospheric" accommodation but am reluctant to do so as my Customers who do, are often disappointed with the quality and service.

This Novotel is great - the staff are friendly, rooms clean and quiet and a short healthy walk from the town centre !! I don't recommend dinner there.....it is by no means "haute cuisine" but breakfast is ok although I wouldn't pay 15 Euros for it...

But as a friendly, quiet and clean place to say I highly recommend it !

“Very good hotel on the way to visit Normandy.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

We (3 of us ) stayed there 2 nights.
Very friendly staff at reception.
Nice rooms(size,cleanliness)
Breakfast little higher then expected, but the buffet more then enough, lot of choise.
Didn't have dinner at the restaurant, but the menu was diversified.
Would stay there again for a visit to Bayeux and the D Day beaches and historic sides.
Must see the tapistry of Bayeux.
Driving distances are short and the town can be done on food.

Room Tip: All rooms are standard quality Novotel rooms, so you know it's going to be good. It's good...
