“Very nice hotel, GREAT location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

My husband and I used Bayeux as our base for exploring the D-Day Beach area (great choice). We were traveling by train, no car, and this hotel worked out great! It was an 8e cab ride from the train station to hotel. The hotel staff was wonderful, food in the hotel restaurant very good, nice bar area in lobby for night cap etc., and the grounds were lovely. Our room was a nice size as was the bathroom, very clean, with comfortable bed! It is about a 15-20 min walk to the center of town down a lovely, safe street. In the morning we'd walk to town and pick up wonderful bakery goods on the way with coffee for breakfast or sandwiches for lunch on the go. It was an easy walk back to hotel from town center after dinner and we always felt very safe.

Room Tip: Rooms on side overlooking pool/garden area very quite.

“Great location, clean hotel, large quiet rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

Bayeux is a sleepy little town with quaint houses, good restaurants, a beautiful cathedral and excellent access to the World War II historical beaches and museums. We spent three nights in this hotel while we explored the area. The hotel was clean, nicely decorated and had a friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were large and included a queen bed and a single pull out couch if needed. Each room also had a refrigerator and they gave you a bottle of regular water and a bottle of mineral water with gas. The hotel was very quiet and comfortable. There was a pool, a bar, and a dining room. Breakfast was a buffet with meats, eggs, fruit, croissants, french breads and more. The hotel was about a 15-20 minute easy walk into the town. The location of this hotel offered ready access to the major highways that led to all of the sights from history , in this area.

“Great, reliable, comfortable but non "atmospheric" hotel in Bayeux !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

I'm a tour guide and when I visit Bayeux I could choose to stay in more expensive and more "atmospheric" accommodation but am reluctant to do so as my Customers who do, are often disappointed with the quality and service.

This Novotel is great - the staff are friendly, rooms clean and quiet and a short healthy walk from the town centre !! I don't recommend dinner there.....it is by no means "haute cuisine" but breakfast is ok although I wouldn't pay 15 Euros for it...

But as a friendly, quiet and clean place to say I highly recommend it !

“Very good hotel on the way to visit Normandy.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

We (3 of us ) stayed there 2 nights.
Very friendly staff at reception.
Nice rooms(size,cleanliness)
Breakfast little higher then expected, but the buffet more then enough, lot of choise.
Didn't have dinner at the restaurant, but the menu was diversified.
Would stay there again for a visit to Bayeux and the D Day beaches and historic sides.
Must see the tapistry of Bayeux.
Driving distances are short and the town can be done on food.

Room Tip: All rooms are standard quality Novotel rooms, so you know it's going to be good. It's good...

“Good base for sightseeing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights while we explored the area, which mainly involved visiting WW II sites, although we did spend a little time in Bayeux itself. It's a bit of a walk into the town of Bayeux, but certainly manageable. The biggest plusses to the hotel were that it was a good base for seeing the WW II sites, it had free parking and it had free wifi in the rooms and lobby. The downside is that breakfast was not included and was rather expensive - 15 Euro per person for what I considered a somewhat limited selection compared to some other breakfasts I've seen in European hotels. The room was fine. We had a double bed as well as a pull-out couch. We both like the room to be very cold for sleeping and surprisingly the air conditioner in this room was working and we could make it as cold as we liked (we don't often find this in Europe). The toilet was in a separate little room from the shower. The receptionist when we checked in was very helpful and gave us maps and information about the area.
