“Wonderful in Every Way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

I can't say enough good things about Stuart Robinson and Normandy Battle Tours. (normandybattletours.com) Our experience was everything promised on the website and more. Stuart was prompt and thorough in answering all questions while we planned our trip and this attention to detail continued. They have thought of everything. Stuart and his wife, Jenny, picked us up at Cherbourg Harbor and drove us back to 1 Le Port, their B&B outside of Ste. Mere Eglise and drove us back to Cherbourg Harbor for our return ferry trip to Portsmouth at the conclusion of the tour.

We spent 3 days touring the American and British sectors and 3 comfortable nights at the B&B, a renovated 17th century farm cottage. Wifi is available. We enjoyed a substantial breakfast every morning, freshly prepared by Jenny, before setting off with Stuart for a day packed with visits to battlefields and museums in their comfortable mini bus. The days were full, yet well-paced. Stuart is extremely knowledgeable about the events of the D-Day invasion and the history of the area, plus he has the rare gift imparting that detailed knowledge through fascinating and impassioned story telling. He has met many veterans and weaves their personal stories into the narrative. Our tour was personalized, with my husband and I the only ones on the tour. Stuart suggested an itinerary and made changes to include places that we wanted to see. We also spent half a day in Bayeux visiting the tapestry and a renaissance faire that was on that weekend. Stuart's vast knowledge and numerous personal contacts allowed him to include several out of the way museums that turned out to be our favorite sites. Watch for his forthcoming book, due out Fall 2013.

Stuart and Jenny gave us suggestions for good places to eat dinner, made restaurant reservations for us each evening, and transported us to and from the restaurants. We enjoyed Calvados, a liquor of the area, and pleasant conversation upon returning from dinner. The price includes everything except lunch and dinner each day and is a bargain in providing an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

“Stuart Robertson is the gold standard for Normandy Tours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

My wife and I recently spent three days with Stuart and his lovely wife Jenny with one other couple at their bed/breakfast and touring the Normandy battlefields. First we wish we had one or two more days because there was so much to see and learn from Stuart. Having been on several trips with other fine tour guides, I had high expectations. Those expectations were exceeded in all ways. Stuart's tours go far beyond places, information, battles, etc. He has done his historical homework and most importantly has made a priority of finding as many veterans to share their stories first hand. It is those numerous personal stories made this experience truly meaningful and unforgettable. While Stuart's naration is personal and sometimes heartfelt, he keeps a keen objectivity in helping visitors understand the stories of war from multiple and compassionate perspectives. This IS the gold standard for Normandy tours. Finally, it is important to note that Stuart has worked to support living veterans with his tours by providing personal time and tours to vets at no cost to them. I believe this speaks highly of his personal interest to deeply understand the experience of veterans and even more importantly, of his compassion and integrity. Book early!

“Kept us and our children wanting more, excellent storyteller!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Stuart was by far the best guide of our trip through France. Our 12 and 14 year old were drawn to his every word and couldn't wait for day two. He brought the history alive and the personal stories he knew from his years of research was unbelievable. I highly recommend Stuart, if you want to feel and understand what DDay was all about. Bravo Stuart!!!

“Excellent Experience with Stuart Robertson, Normandy Battle Tours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

My husband and I spent 2 days with Stuart for a private tour of the Normandy area. This was the part of our vacation that we were most looking forward to and the experience was awesome. Stuart is very passionate about the veterans and keeping their memories alive. My husband is a history major and WWII buff and it was so great for us to be able to go to the areas that larger tours can't get to and to learn from someone so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the events leading up to, surrounding and after the D-day invasion.

I am not as well versed in the history and fully expected to be a little bored. But Stuart really was able to make history come alive with personal stories of veterans and it really put things in perspective. Many of these personal stories were told directly to him by the veterans themselves so it was nice to hear the accounts given to Stuart by the people who actually lived it. I enjoyed the tour every bit as much as my husband and we really wished we had booked another 2 days.

If you are looking for a tour guide for yourselves or your group, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stuart and Normandy Battle Tours. It was an experience that neither of us will forget and worth every penny.

“Normandy Battlefield Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We spent four days touring the D-day beaches and the airborne battlefields. Our tour guide Stuart, brought history alive with personal stories of the veterans combined with vintage photos in the exact spot you are standing so you can compare the sites to their conditions on D-Day. Stuart's knowledge, enthusiasm and personal service exceeded everyone's expectations. I highly recommend Normandy Battle Tours and Stuart for touring the D-Day battlefields.
