“Lunch in Bayeux”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

The food was good. However the service was excellent. White linen table cloths, tuxedo staff. We really enjoyed it. Traditional French.

“Annoying -- they add extra items to the check”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Went here for breakfast -- after seeing a sign posted out front advertising the fact that they serve breakfast. Ordered two coffees and two croissants. Also asked for a small glass of tap water in order to swallow a couple of pills I had to take. When the check came, they an item identified as "Adjuvant" was added to the check for the glass of water. We also asked for jam ("confiture") to go with the croissants and they added an extra charge for that. So a simple breakfast of two cups of coffee and a couple of croissants ended up costing the equivalent of $16.

“Good food at a good price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

We paid just under 15 Euro for 2 courses. We were given a free appetiser and bread. The service was friendly and attentive. The mains and desserts we had were very tasty. My chocolate fondant dessert was special. The house wine was fine.

“Taken in context, it was great !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

Wife stayed in Paris, I trained to Bayeux from St Lazare Paris for quick D Day tour. Non English speaking cab driver at Bayeux train station offered to give me the basic tour without narration. Go figure. Good tour actually, got to see some things off the beaten tourist path. I asked to be dropped at a restaurant, ended the tour at La Taverne des Ducs. I had chosen some so-so bistros in Paris, had been disappointed. Had no expectations in Bayeaux and by comparison really enjoyed the food, relaxed staff and unhurried atmosphere at des Ducs. The food was fresh and good, the bread was excellent, the rice pudding was terrific. The food was not cheap, but compared to Paris prices it was a pleasure. I had a great conversation with an American couple at the next table, then walked a mile to the train station. Bayeux itself was an added surprise, quaint little town dominated by a large impressive cathedral.
