Stopped by this place on a private tour and enjoyed it tremendously. Was a bit disappointed that the French have not taken it upon themselves to preserve many of these famous battlefield sites and allow the commercial modern world to encroach on the sacred ground that so many shed their blood on. I was told that this land is leased and maintained by the U.S. Government, but nearby is modern buildings and residences. Only a small portion of this important beach head has been preserved. What a sight to see and appreciate what obstacles they had to endure to take this position.
