“Restaurant of the highest kind”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Really enjoyable with a traditional feel to the decor lighting and table layout, a very good ambiance and the food was first class. Yes a little on the expensive side but we're on holiday right?!! The service is fab with good English spoken and the overall experience worthwhile and to be revisited again in the future :-)

“Nice, welcoming restaurant close to the Grand Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Nice, welcoming restaurant close to the Grand Place with an ample choice of the local specialties including Potjevleesch and Carbonade flamande. Lille is very close to Flanders, so presence of Flemisch names and dishes should not be surprising.

Good choice of pleasant (but not special) wines.

“Friendly restaurant in town center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

L'Orange Bleue is a warm and welcoming restaurant not too far from the Grand Place in Lille. We've been here on two occasions, and in both cases the place was full. Still, miraculously we always managed to get a table, even with two kids. The menu is lacking a little bit of inspiration, but some of the dishes are very good and nicely presented (for example, the King Crab appetizer). Part of the menu consists of pasta dishes with tagliatelle, and in our case, these were cooked too much (i.e. not holding together anymore). The service is very friendly and nicely timed: Food arriving just when you expect it, without feeling rushed.

“Excellent second visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

A welcoming restaurant in Old Lille which creates a warm atmosphere, this was the second visit for one of our number and it did not disappoint. The waiter was delightful and very helpful and efficient, despite being very busy as the place was full. Food was Flemish style with French twist and all our meals were enjoyed. Value for money is good, considering the cost of everything in France these days. Would happily go there again despite the numerous other options in the area.

“A surprisingly good shelter from the rain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Having struggled to get into other restaurants in town on the Saturday which were full we arrived at L'orange Bleue. It was a very wet night and we were only too happy to wait in the dry for 10 minutes for a table in a packed restaurant. The 10 minutes turned out to be less than 5 and we were soon seated at our table. The combination of a rustic decor of bare brick walls together with a modern menu and lovely ambiance made for a very enjoyable evening. Most of the clientele appeared to be French and they only had a French menu but I always feel if it is popular with the locals it is a good sign. We had to rely on our school french and a little help from our waiter who made us laugh with his quack quack for duck and interesting rabbit impressions. The food when it arrived was very good with large portions. Normally we would only have one to two courses but with lots of nice options on the menu we had starters, main then a shared dessert. The shared creme brulee at the end was to die for. Perfect for a birthday celebration. Would love to go back next time I am in Lille.
