“Very nice smart hotel, would definitely recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2011

We found a deal a lot less than the advertised rate making our stay excellent value, esp as it included the really great breakfast. Watch out for extras though - room service, restaurant prices etc are sky-high. The hotel is lovely, beautifully converted, close to the center of the city but far enough away to be absolutely peaceful at night & it is very comfortable. If I had to criticize, the bed was slightly on the small side and there was a hint of snootiness about the place - but maybe that is just part of the French charm!

The Hotel was is indeed very nice and impressive. we were welcomed as you would expect in a hotel of this category, the car was taken care of and the room was very nice. If you expect for the lowest category (traditional) 50 sqm than you should book sth else, but the bed was big enough for 2 (160cm), the bathroom marbled and very modern, a seprate toilett and overall really quiet. I can not agree with some comments that the hotel does not live up to the standard of a 5 star! However, I can not agree more with the prices in the bar - they ar eover the top! Additionally the lights at night are far too bright, some arithekt musst have eraned a fortune on the installations! The choice for breakfast could have been a bit bigger, but overall it was very good. I can recommend the hotel to anyone who is going for a short romantic trip and the 10 min foot walk to the city center was nto a problem for us!

I stayed here for my birthday. I really couldn't fault this hotel. The room was lovely and we had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent. The service and attentiveness of the hotel staff was great. Can't believe anyone would say this hotel is not 5 star.

This is a good hotel, indeed the service is excellent while the lobby and glass atrium are stunning, but it is 3 stars perhaps 4 at best. For example, our room though comfortable was not luxurious while we ordered room service - a starter, a main and a sandwich - which came to 65€ despite the fact it was cold, greasy and of poor quality. Disappointing really as the staff are very helpful and the hotel is in a decent position.

Stayed as a birthday treat for one night, it is a lovely hotel. The decor is amazing and the bar is a lovely relaxing place to enjoy a chat. The room was small but beautiful, the bathroom amazing and really enjoyed the clairins toiletries. A complimentary birthday cake was delivered to our room which was the best cake we had ever eaten. We ate in the restaurant adjacent to the bar, food and ambience was lovely. Really enjoyed our stay, its lovely to go to Lille for one night just wander the historical streets, walk the canal and enjoy french food, a lovely relaxing break.

My fiancee took me to L'Hermitage Gantois Hotel for my 30th birthday treat and upon arrival they knew already that it was my birthday and was congratulated by the staff several times. We were then also upgraded to a 'Prestige Suite' which was a total surprise and an amazing room. The bed was massive, the facilities were perfect and what we expected from a 4/5 star hotel. Designer elements such as the 'Ghost Chair' in the room added an extra special touch as well as the Clarins products in the bathroom. We would definitely recommend making the most out of the hotel bar/lobby as they have live piano every night. The hotel restaurant was too expensive for us but the hotel was close to many good restaurants. Looking forward to our next trip.

Lovely airy hotel, small but adequate room, spacious bathroom with what my partner called a silly sink! i thought it was lovely marble and sloped lovely toiletries (clairin) power shower deep bath constant hot water, exceptionaly clean at all times bed not to hard not to soft bedding and towels changed daily, mini bar exspensive but with shops near by not a problem. Most of the staff friendly and helpful as we are pigeon French speaking but found the main man on reception a bit pompous and rude at times.
We did not eat in the resturant as we came to explore the town and resterants but it looked impresive especialy on new years eve, would not eat in the brazzerie as kitchen staff outside in whites smoking alot of the time. Bar area and chapel beautiful and modern art display was well worth a look. The bedroom staff left little tokens and yet again made new years eve a little special with chocolate coins and a new years note a nice touch.only a couple of little niggiles no English programmes except world news and sport. wifi was 9 euros a day but if you go up to the town it is free in most of the resterants and bars. Breakfast was nice but I dont feel 6 mini bread products. fruit salad,
juice. coffee and a small bowl of cereal plus what they describe as a selection of cheeses 5 thin slices of gruyer worth 38 euros but it was as I stated nice. Lille town was lovely and all the restaruants and bars were friendly and the food beautiful and only a 10 minute walk having a car was a bit of a hinderance parking was free overnight but then 1 euro an hour and you have to top up ever hour unless you can get into the car park which is 15 euros for 24 hours but shut on a Sunday, but it is free in the street on Sunday and bank holidays so that was a help. DO CHECK YOUR BILLwe left in a rush to get to Calais so didn't check until we had left and realised we had paid for breakfast 38euros and tax 3 euros and we hadn't booked in.
We did have a lovely time is a lovely hotel was very romantic would stay again.
One more thing check your bill we wer
