Nice hotel, something different. Staff well trained and pleasant. Rooms are ok, good breakfast, restaurant so so... overall I enjoy staying there. The lobby space is spectacular. Lots of good restaurants at walking distance

Room Tip: Avoid top floor in summer, too hot, aircon mediocre

Selected this hotel by looking at Tripadvisor reviews.
Then booked best price via olotels.com.
Drove from Calais to Lille and used my sat nav. Important as the city is busy and the road structure is varied to say the least. However, if you are driving - the final 100 metres are one way so take it slow up to the hotel as the entrance is tight to get a car through and you may miss it.
Parking inside with a small charge of 18 euros per day.
Local area is quiet and next to a small inland waterway.
The hotel building itself is a converted convent and very modern, so don't be put off by the convent title. Very classy upgrade throughout with a central internal bar and restaurant area covered by a glass atrium. Very spacious and not noisy if you spend some time sitting here.
Reception was top notch and helpful. Pleasant staff.
We upgraded our booking to an apartment room (no.201) which overlooked the car park and it was extremely quiet. We had a great night sleep. Bed was comfortable and not too hard.
The rooms were well furnished with a separate sitting room and large clean bathroom.
We chose to have our breakfast served in our room (no extra cost), and had a simple continental breakfast with juices, tea, pastries, croissants and preservatives. All fresh and tasty.
We didn't dine in the restaurant, but did have drinks in the bar before stepping out - the service here is good as was the choice of cocktails, beers and wines.
Staff were very engaging and fun. Spoke English and also allowed us to try our French too!
Prices were not expensive and value for money.
Would choose this location ahead of more established brands in the city as it was an easy walk to the Grand Place and the hotel was not too corporate to be ignored.
Our stay was very good.
Would return and recommend.

Room Tip: Upgrade to one of the two apartment they have there - approximately a further 40 euros. Also, book...

The hotel building itself is lovely, the original convent having been converted into a hotel in the last 20 years. The centre courtyard is covered by a glass atrium and below that are the bar and restaurant areas, all very light, airy and spacious. We chose a superior double room (no.206) which overlooked the carpark and was very quiet. The room itself was well appointed with a large bed and the bathroom, toilet, wardrobe areas were in a separate lobby area. The room was very clean, the bathroom was bit tired but well presented with bath and shower. Overall it was too hot and the a/c would not go below 18 Degrees C which we found too hot for sleeping. Fortunately, we were able to have the windows open which solved the problem. As with many hotels, the lighting is great for romance, but not so good if you want to read in bed. although there was a standard lamp that I managed to move close to my side of the bed for more light.
I complained to housekeeping about a loose socket (I think someone had moved the standard lamp as I had and then tripped over the wire) and also the wardrobe sliding doors were very cumbersome. The housekeeper promised she would get these things fixed immediately - I hope she did. The breakfast cost is 19 Euros and for this I would have expected a better selection of hot food. There was only small, greasy sausages, greasy streaky bacon and powdered scrambled eggs - Alliance, you need to do better on this front. The rest of the buffet was adequate but not memorable, although the juices were fresh and chilled. We dined in the restaurant on one evening and the food and service were very good, but on the expensive side, as were the drinks. It is just a few minutes' walk into the Old Lille centre and perfectly safe to walk in the evening. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, offering to speak in English or French as I wished. May local people visit the bar and restaurant and it also attracts business guests. There is on site secure parking on a first come, first served basis at a current cost of 18 Euros per 24 hours (hourly rates also applied). I would stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: The standard double rooms have doors and windows which lead onto a balcony in the central atrium are...

My wife and I spent two nights in the Couvent des Minimes, one on our way to a final destination and once on the way back. We chose it for the location as we had two overnights in Lille and wanted to be close to the centre. as it was we were delighted with the position as we could walk to wherever we wanted to be but were outside of the busy centre.

The first night we stayed in a regular room and the second we were upgraded to a superior room. The superior room is indeed superior to the regular room although there is nothing wrong with the regular room (except perhaps the view from the window for those who spend their time looking out f the window)- although the views from neither was great. The rooms are both lovely and roomy and the bathrooms excellent - and everything very clean and fresh. The lounge is in an atrium which is perfectly delightful and we very much enjoyed taking an aperitif there to the sound of a an excellent pianist who seemed to know exactly what we liked to listen to. There is a champagne bar at an upper level, probably a lovely pace for those who can afford it.

The restaurant is good and comfortable, a bit on the pricey side perhaps but then cheaper food can be taken in the atrium courtyard. The decor altogether is good although the colour scheme not quite what we would have expected. A little too modern for the surroundings although altogether the ambience is superb.

The service overall leaves nothing to be desired. Reception staff are outstanding, friendly, efficient and helpful.

Overall, not cheap but a definite recommendation.

This hotel was lovely, the staff were very helpful, service was good and the breakfast plentiful and tasty. Located about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Lille in a quite street opposite the canal it is a perfect place to be based for a visit to Lille. The hotel was originally a convent and has some interesting architecture witihin the original quadrangle. We upgraded our room which was large with a separate bathroom and toilet. Car parking at the hotel is a big advantage as the public car parks are not very close.

My wife and I headed to Lille to sample the Christmas market. We arrived by 130 and were able to get an early check in from the friendly guys at reception. A slight problem with the room ( safe not working) was quickly resolved by moving us to another room.

We had a view of the quai and found the room comfortable and spacious.

We had a great stroll through the old town to some bistros recommended by reception staff and the onto the Grand Place and Place Rihour for the Christmas market. The whole city centre was packed with people shopping and enjoying the sights - the Marche Noel wasn't huge but the atmosphere was great.

We took a leisurely stroll back to the hotel and enjoyed a few drinks and toasts in the wonderful space

Our bargain room rate included breakfast and the croissants were lovely

We would definitely stay here again -all staff from reception, bar staff and waiteresses at breakfast were great.

A November short break to Lille by Eurostar with my sister was crowned by this fascinating hotel. The brilliant conversion from the historic convent not only looks great, but works well. The mezzanine floor acts as a roof to the centre of the great square space, and the design of seating and room-dividers not only looks good, but provides acoustic environments which allow quiet conversation and a sense of calm. Look out for "before" photos along the corridors. Food and service first class.
There's much to enjoy in Lille, but mostly I'd love an excuse to return to the Couvent des Minimes.
