“Great little hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

Went there for a women-only weekend (there were 5 of us) and we all agreed that this hotel is a little gem. We were given detailed information at the reception of where to go and to eat. The hotel is close to just about everything in Lille. As mentioned before in some reviews, finding a parking spot in Lille is a nightmare so do take the hotel parking lot (just around the corner from the hotel). At 16 euro for 24 hours you can't go wrong. Rooms are very modern and clean. Bathroom is fantastic. We did have the breakfast at 15 euro but didn't regret it. There was a good choice and we were served coffee, tea, fruit juice… basically anything we wanted and as much as we wanted. We would all definitely go there again. The price is good, the staff are all very friendly and helpful, the location is excellent and the room are great. What else can you ask for?

Room Tip: Any room is fine; excellent isolation against any noise form the street;

My wife and daughter stayed 2 nights there, we really had a good time!

Staff/Reception

Very helpful, gave us many tips and were friendly with us.

Location

You couldn't be more central, 2 minutes walk from World famous Grand Place, very close to the "Old Lille" area. Perfect.

Parking

The hotel has a deal with a parking which is 1 minute away. The rate was 16 EUR a night. It is pretty difficult to find a place to park in Lille so I would recommend to park there.

Room

The room was modern, the bed very comfortable. Also the TV was bigger than the standard for such a room! Perfect for a short stay.

Wifi

Free and strong signal

Breakfast

15 EUR per person, we thought it is a bit expensive considering you've got plenty of cheaper alternatives right outside the hotel!

All in all, we really enjoyed our stay there and will probably go there again!

This hotel is perfect for a short break visit to Lille. We stayed as a family of 4 for the Christmas market which is 5 mins walk away.

The rooms are well appointed and cosy. Family rooms are nice but don't expect lots of space once the kids bed is down.

Staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming.

Skip the expensive breakfast though and head for Paul in Grande Place as it's a lot cheaper and the view is lovely.

I'd stay here again, no problem.

Stayed at Hotel Up in December. The room was small but nicely finished with nice touches - Nespresso machine, iPod dock, wide screen TV and a good clean bathroom. The hotel staff were friendly and professionally, wifi was also included. We chose the hotel as it was conveniently located in the centre, very close to all the shops and the Christmas market in Lille. Only downer was that the hotel breakfast was nit included and quite pricey at €15pp. That said for €15 you can feast yourself on the delightful French bakeries within walking distance of the hotel. Recommended.

we had a lovely stay at this little hotel, it is very near the centre of Lille, restaurants beautiful shops opera house etc. the hotel is beautifully run and very clean the rooms are a little compact but beautifully kept, breakfast perhaps a little expensive 15 euros, but most restaurants were high prices. we would definitely go back to this lovely hotel, thank you to the staff.

Stayed here for a night whilst in Lille to see the Christmas Markets. It's ideally located walking distance from the Eurostar and for Lille town. A very smart, clean, tidy little hotel. Rooms are compact but very functional, very comfortable bed & good shower - just what you need for a short break. Reception was very helpful and friendly. Didn't have breakfast or use the bar but would happily stay here again.

Hotel was very easy to find and it is literally a few minutes walk from Lille-Europe station and even less from the other station. Old and New Lille are within easy, flat walking distance and there are a large number or bars, restaurants and fast food places literally on the doorstep. We had two modern rooms (502 and 505) were satisfied with both although one of them absolutely reeked of cigarettes. Two of us shared 502 with a big queen sized bed, large bathroom (no bath though) and plenty of towels - room was a bit chilly but they may have been because we couldn't work the air-con/heating controls!!. Three of us had 505 with a big queen sized bed which was extremely comfortable and a large double sofa bed for the the third person which apparently was really comfy too. We had a bath and a shower in our bathroom with lots of towels, a hairdryer and toiletries. I will say the room was very cramped with 3 in it and although we are family it did feel a bit 'close together'!! Everywhere was very clean and anything we asked for (extra loo roll, coffee, tea etc) was brought to our room in minutes. There is free wifi everywhere in the hotel too, just ask for the code. Some of the decor in our room was a little bit on the tired side and needs re-doing and the blinds didn't work but on the whole we were pleased with what we got for our money.. Didn't have breakfast as we felt 15 euros was far too expensive (Lille is chock full of eateries!) but we did look at the selection and it looked fresh, plentiful and well presented. The staff really make this hotel as they are ALL friendly, helpful, courteous and pleasant at all times no matter how many times you ask them the same question in really bad French - the service is really excellent. The cocktail waiter is a master of his craft too. Would we stay here again - absolutely yes! Would we recommend - yes!. Please see my separate review of the brasserie A La Renaissance - you must eat there!!
