“Very swish little hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2011

Hotel Up is a townhouse hotel located just 5 minutes walk from the Gare Lille Flandres and about 10 minutes away from the Gare Lille Europe (where there is also a big shopping centre and a Carrefour supermarket). The hotel has been refurbished in a very contemporary style and rooms are small but stylish and spotlessly clean with a big flat screen TV, comfy beds with crisp linen and a massive bathroom with complementary toiletries. Reception staff speak excellent English and are polite and helpful. We didn't eat breakfast here as we found a cafe nearby where you could get a continental breakfast for 5 euros. Accommodating a family of four in one room was a tight squeeze with no space to store luggage but for a brief stay, we were really impressed and would definitely stay here again.

This is a shiny new establisment in an area with rather seedy looking small hotels one block from the busy station area.Although not as attractive as the historic centre,it is only a short walk from the Vieux Lille restaurants and,of course ,ideal for the train.
The reception is staffed 24 hours, and on each occasion was to a high standard, with English speaking staff able and willing to help with resturants ,taxis etc.Although a small hotel, there is also a residents` bar in the evening with tea and coffee available-this is useful as there are no tea making facilities in the rooms.
There is a rather small solitary lift for both guests and staff,so the stairs (with a very attractive modern design in the iron balustrade) are advised for the lower floors. We wer in a front room on the fifith floor.
Although small, our room had a very high standard of comfort in all functional respects .The bed was excellent ; perhaps on the soft side for my liking, but with a solid base. The sheet was of traditional material ,and a second sheet was available on request to use with a blanket in place of the usual inappropriate (in May) duvet. There was a variety of functional and artistic bedside and room lighting in three colours.
Apart fom the bed,the other furniture was minimalist, and a little storage under the bedside lamp podium would have been useful.Certainly the ludicrously huge TV seemed an over provision by comparison. The enviroment for sleep was perfect, with total sound isulation from the exterior, silent air conditioning, and fresh air ventilation fom a most efficient bathroom extraction system combined with concealed vents from the outside behind the wardrobe.
I was a litle irritated to find a bathroom fully large enough to hold a proper bath, but instead equipped with a double size shower cubicle.Other may not share my views.
There is nothing to criticise in terms of cleanlinesss or maintenance.
Breakfast was of a good standard although the designer crockery left very little space on the tables.

Room Tip: room 500 is next to the lift- noisy

Nice new hotel only 2 minutes walk from Lille Flanders railway station. Good location close to old town, restaurants, shops and all services.
Liked the room especially the shower, and the tv was great. Friendly staff.
Only complaint is the so called 3 person room is too small for 3 people. Nowhere to put your bags and you bump into the fold out bed every time you walk past to go to the bathroom. Also the fold out bed is too hard to sleep on anyway. When we complained we were given some extra padding to add to the matress but it was still almost unbearable to sleep on.

Room Tip: Forget about the

Just a 10 minute walk from the Eurostar we found the hotel. Modern inside and out. Check in was quick and easy, with staff speaking good english. We were a group of 7, if sharing with more than two they use a sofa bed for the 2nd bed - it was extremely hard. But the room interior was modern and funky and able to open the windows as the air con was not great. The bathroom was great with a "wet room" shower, nice big towels and nice products. The breakfast was nice, but if you are just looking for a croissant and coffee, I would go to a cafe elsewhere. We all enjoyed our stay and recommend it to anyone going to Lille.

Dedicated, warm and welcoming staff (that speak very good English). Stylishly decorated. The room (#404) was so quiet that we recommend setting the alarm clock to wake up in the morning. No slamming doors heard, no steps heard from the hallway, no street noise came through the windows. Also great curtains to block out the light. Bathroom with generous shower and Occitane products. Super breakfast, reasonably priced at 13 € pp. Very well located at the center of Lille. No problem to access with car.

Just off the grand place, perfect little hotel with all mod cons. My wife and I were happy to make use of the bed rather than see more of Lille, which happens to be a very nice little town.
Friendly staff, free wifi, secure parking, huge flat screen tv, great shower - room for 2.

The room (simple 2 persons) was quite new, but small. The hallway for exemple was really small and you could bearly pass when the cleaning cart was in the hallway (when we stayed there this was always the case).
It had clearly been renovated and the badroom had a nice rainshower, but no bad. There was a nice flat screen in the room, but with few channels.
The isolation between the floors wasn't very good and you could hear the people walking in te room above, really good.
All in all a good, clean hotel, but nothing more.
