“Great little hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2011

Dedicated, warm and welcoming staff (that speak very good English). Stylishly decorated. The room (#404) was so quiet that we recommend setting the alarm clock to wake up in the morning. No slamming doors heard, no steps heard from the hallway, no street noise came through the windows. Also great curtains to block out the light. Bathroom with generous shower and Occitane products. Super breakfast, reasonably priced at 13 € pp. Very well located at the center of Lille. No problem to access with car.

Just off the grand place, perfect little hotel with all mod cons. My wife and I were happy to make use of the bed rather than see more of Lille, which happens to be a very nice little town.
Friendly staff, free wifi, secure parking, huge flat screen tv, great shower - room for 2.

The room (simple 2 persons) was quite new, but small. The hallway for exemple was really small and you could bearly pass when the cleaning cart was in the hallway (when we stayed there this was always the case).
It had clearly been renovated and the badroom had a nice rainshower, but no bad. There was a nice flat screen in the room, but with few channels.
The isolation between the floors wasn't very good and you could hear the people walking in te room above, really good.
All in all a good, clean hotel, but nothing more.

I booked this hotel after reading some good reviews, but was deeply disappointed. When making a reservation on booking I was somewhat confused by the room description as there was a double, triple and superior room (for 4) but all photos seem to always show only 1 double bed. Wanted to ensure I had a bigger room I choose the triple (the hotel website did not work and I could not check for more info).

The room was fairly small, L-shaped having the in long leg of the L an unfolded sofa bed as third bed. It was so cramped that one had to squeeze by to make it into the bathroom (which was pleasant). The whole room made a youth hostel look spacious. The room had a small window with abt 2 metre opposite a brick wall. Even by NYC standards the room was tiny and I doubt that there was enough day light to make without lights as the room was only on the second floor (Saw same room on the 5th floor and there is no wall opposite).

I asked for another room and was given a superior (officially 4 bed room) which is essentially a nicely spaced room with a double bed and a sofa which can be turned into another double bed and then again would remind me more of my student days when people crushed everywhere. The bedding and bath room was nice with lovely Occitiane amenities. However, compared to other boutique hotels I stayed in the design (whilst niceish) feels a bit cheap, especially considering the price.

Overall I would not stay again there as I think the price/value relationship is not good and the varied quality of the rooms makes it a bit of a gamble.

On a positive note the location is very central and quite. Street parking is possible for free until 9 am. The hotel offers private parking close by for 15 EUR but only until noon, which did not help as we wanted to stay until the early afternoon

During our stay WIFI did not work.

What a pleasant surprise. Despite some confusion over check-in (30 mins wait in the bar/restaurant) the room was a nice surprise. Very comfy bed, lovely decor, huge walk in double shower and decent toiletries. We didn't watch it, but also a large wall-mounted plasma TV.
We went to Paul's for breakfast, but we saw others eating and it looked nice. Perhaps a little crowded if everyone arrived to eat at once.
Only 10 mins max walk to Eurostar, and 5 ish mins walk to main shopping area. We went to the Xmas market which was nice, but disappointingly small. We much prefered looking round the old town, lovely chocolate and leather shops (take your credit card). The Sunday market is also a must, great fresh produce, cheese, wines and rotisserie chickens.

All in all I would definitely stay here again, I do miss tea making facilities, but I guess it must be an English thing. Despite the wooden floors, we didn't hear anyone banging around. Perfect location for a speedy arrival and departure.

Top hotel, great location, new and fine and modern rooms, great breakfast. If you would rate this hotel from the outside you would not be that interested. Bit average front, but insid, rooms and service is great. Would go there again.

Me and my partner stayed at hotel up for 3 nights. We realized a little too late that the first train from Lille to Paris airport wasn't early enough in the morning so we tried to change our hotel reservation. No flexibility there. They just kept on saying that "yes we can cancel but you will not get your money back". Very helpful indeed. When we arrived by car (we were forced to rent) there was no parking anywhere close to the hotel. When we finally get to the hotel to check in after the normal 2 p.m. they inform us that the room isn't ready and we should come back "in an hour o so". When we get our room that is a really nice design room and nothing to complain about except for some practical things and the fact that we only got one towel. After asking for another one twice we do end up getting it but then the morning comes and a disaster of a breakfast. It takes forever for them to bring a plate and a cup to the table and you have to ask for a fork and knife and then for a bowl and then for some orange juice. You feel like you are part of some horrible comedy act that isn't funny at all.
The next morning we got our breakfast elsewhere and all in all we really enjoyed our stay in Lille. The rooms have a very nice touch to them, not the typical boring hotel room and the staff probably did their best. If the manager would get more staff and train them better you would have a lovely hotel.
