“Good value hotel just outside Lille centre, 20-30 minute walk.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

This hotel is part of a chain of hotels as there are many these days. They offer relatively cheap rooms but are otherwise nondescript and lack the personal touch you may find in for instance family run hotels.

Staff is friendly and some speak good English (and some not or poor)

On one side of the hotel is a busy motorway so ask for a room on the other side. I did and could even sleep with the window open. The room is basic with a large bed, small desk and a TV with only French channels. The bathroom is not that big.

The wireless internet signal strength was OK , sufficient to watch streaming media. WiFi internet is free but you have to sign up with your personal details to get access. When you have signed in you will receive the password via SMS on your mobile phone so make sure you have that with you and charged.

Breakfast is an additional € 6,- (October 2012) for which you a choice from the breakfast buffet which includes cereals, bread, croissants, poached egg and bacon, jams, honey, yoghurt, coffee/tea and fruit juice. Not bad for the price paid.

Below the hotel is a large garage in which I could park my bicycle for free.

The hotel is in a somewhat remote part of Lille with many office buildings and some domestic housing. Lille centre is a 20-30 minute walk

All-in-all one of the cheaper reasonable options in Lille.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the entrance side, away from the busy motorway on the other side.

This is a very good, basic hotel perfect for a short stay. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, with sheets and towels changed daily. Wi-fi works perfectly. There is a tv in the room, but with French channels only. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. You can get a hair dryer for free at the reception. Breakfast was nice, with plenty of choice, mostly non-meat stuff. It is a 20-minute walk to town centre. The only downside is its position right next to the highway, so if you are a light sleeper be prepared!

Clean, basic, no frills but everything worked well, free wifi, quiet location, and very friendly helpful staff on reception. It's a 20 minute walk into town to a decent restaurant and there's free on-street parking (the hotel has a car park but we didn't use it).

B&B are a French chain, and they seem to get their costs down with the 'cookie cutter' approach. It's all the same, and it's done at a budget.

So for 57 euros it's a simple double room, with a simple bathroom and a small, simple TV. It's somewhere to sleep for a cheap price. If you are a light sleeper, this might not be the place you you, we could hear sounds from the adjacent rooms and people walking by.

none of the annoying plastic room keys, you are given a 6 diget code which opens the room, in and out of the car park. Very efficient.

All extras cost extra! Parking was 6 euros for 24 hours, which we took because it didn't look like there was street parking in the neighourhood, but I didn't look that hard. Breakfast was a touch under 7 euros (I think!), we didn't take that because of the reviews on tripadvisor. When we had a look aout 10.30-11am, most of it had gone, it looked cheap and cheerful. (I read a posting about dried eggs, that was't the case when we stayed because saw the eggs!).

They did loan out a hairdryer from the reception, no charge for that!

The one in Lille is a 20 mins walk to the touristy parts of the city. It is also possible to get there on the local metro/subway system, we didn't take it, so can't comment on cost or how easy. It was late and raining and we wanted to eat, so we took a taxi to the centre, that cost about 12 euros.

It is very new and it is close to the highway, so traffic noise if the window is open and you are in a room on the back side of the hotel.

In the neighboorhood, off Rue Edgar Hoover, which is the road you turn off, there is a Brasserie, a small supermarket, a sushi place (the menu is in the hotel, gold plated costs), Subway and they were finishing a bakery. There is also a ban with ATM. All of these are in the same block, newly built block that you drive by to get to the hotel.

Back towards the Eurolille Convention Centre, on the opposite side of the road, there is a restaurant, which looks more local and established. Didn't go there, and didn't look at the menu.

It's about a 30 minute walk from the Eurolille Shopping centre, we drove there, take the multistory parking, it's cheaper and the one on-street place we checked out was limited to 80 minutes.

Room Tip: Room at the front, on the top floor would probably minimize noise.

Booked a double and a twin room, as there were 4 of us. Arrived around 11 pm which was no problem since they have a 24/7 reception. All speak good English as well. Rooms open with a 6 digit code so no keys needed, nice & very clean (although I noticed the shower walls could use a bit of a scrub), one soap dispenser in the shower for hair & body, plastic cup and towels were provided. It's right next to the highway but with the window closed you don't hear a thing. No aircon, it's more of a fan. First night was a bit hot eventhough we've put the fan to the highest cool setting. Only slept with the sheet. Guess it's cooler with the window open but we'd rather be a bit hot than have a mosquito in our room. The hotel has private parking for €6,- a day but you can park for free just outside on the street. There is a metro station nearby (single €1,40 and €4,10 for a day card) but there are also bike rental stands where you can rent a bike for €1,40 for a whole day which you pay by card. They do reserve €200 on your card just in case you don't return the bike. These bike stands are every where in the city so it's definitely recommended to hire a bike. You can put them back in one and get another one from a different stand. So no need to return them to the same place. This way you can explore the city quicker and easier.
All and all the hotel is very good value for your money.

Easy to find, a short walk to a metro station 1.40e for a single journey on the network. If you prefer to walk into the centre 15-20 mins soon takes you there. A clean adequate room although the window could have been larger. Air con if needed. Parking in the garage 6e or free on the quiet street. A decent supermarket and a subway at the end of the street.
Breakfast is help yourself again good value for money. The hotel is very reasonably priced for being close to the centre and ideal for driving into Lille without having to pay expensive parking charges. The only negative point is there are no bars close by, well none that we found, maybe someone knows different.
