Description: Michel Sarran restaurant in Toulouses charming old town is a townhouse eaterie that boasts a pair of Michelin stars, understated warmth and style, and the most famous gastronomic name in the city. Michels wife Francoise greets you and shows you to the bubbling, modern ground floor dining room, the leafy terrace, or one of the more subdued, romantic first floor dining rooms. Sarran has made his name with ambitious, subtle gastronomy focussing on the best regional, seasonal ingredients: warm foie gras soup with Belon oysters, wild salmon cooked and cru with green curry emulsion and soba noodles and shellfish, chicken and egg with Aquitaine caviar. The lunchtime Saveurs menu is a steal. Wines and service are superb and the amuse-bouche delightful.

“Among my top 5 best meals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

Michel Sarran is not just a great chef, he is an artist whose work rarely lasts more than moments but remains in the memory for a lifetime. We spent a long, lovely evening enjoying one of the very best meals of my life, no small thing for a man of 72 years. From the outside you would expect a nice place to dine, but you might not guess you were entering food heaven. The flawless service started as the door opened as we stepped from our taxi and never diminished from that level. The little amuse bouche with the tubes of truffle paste to put on little toasts gave a hint of what was to follow. I asked the waiter for recommendations and he provided me with wonderful things, the Soupe de foie gras, the pigeon du Mont Royal en kadaif, and les Fromages de Xavier. My wife had the same soup, the Porc Noir de Bigorre mignon en cocette au thym and the Fraises et fraise des bois en coque croustillante. Wine must accompany such a dinner, and I left myself in the hands of the sommelier who selected perfectly matched wines with each course. To end the evening I had a Café Moka and a very pleasant chat with the master himself who personally thanked us for spending our evening in his establishment. It was a privilege to have such an experience handled with grace and perfect professionalism by every member of the staff. This is not an inexpensive place to have dinner, and there are many wonderful places in Toulouse, but if you want art as well as delight, this is the place. Michel Sarran is a genius in the kitchen, and opportunities like this do not come often, so enjoy and treasure the memories. Also, if you are travelling to France and know when you will be in Toulouse, you can make reservations on line which I recommend.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2014 via mobile

Very good , this place is amaizing! Surpise menu really is a surprize! I have no words and is no point to start and explain all the dishes, is expensive but when you eat what they serve you dont care how much they charge, is that good. Well done! Highly recomended!

“Not worth it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2014

This restaurant is rated as number one however it is difficult to give it that rating based on the level of service, the temperature of the room and the cost of the entrees.
The meal was overall quite good but there was no vegetarian choices for starters and the starters (entrees ) were as expensive if not more than the main meal.
The cost of the meal was horribly expensive and usually one does not mind paying extravagant prices when the meal lives up to expectations.

“Worth a visit if in Toulouse”

A lovely degustation dining experience. Very good value. Experienced sommelier. Loved the surprise toothpaste like tubes at the beginning. Frogs legs were surprisingly tender and tasty.
