“Lovely Hotel, Great View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We recently stayed here with a group and cannot fault the attention we received, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Our room, on the third floor (with a lift), overlooked the valley, and it was a great view at any time of the day or night. The ceilings were sloping and we are tall so this did cause a few mishaps, bruised foreheads, but not a problem. The rooms could do with more wardrobe and drawer space, there was a large desk/dressing table that took up a large area that could have been used to extend the wardrobe. We had no problem with our shower. We would definately visit again.

Room Tip: If you require a lift then the part overlooking the valley is the one to choose

Stayed here with a large group and feel I was excellently looked after. All the staff were friendly, charming and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. The only criticism was the shower cubicle, which was the smallest I have ever had anywhere. The tap mechanism jutted out and therefore gave even less room to manoeuvre! It also had one of those dreadful shower curtains that stick to you. As it is a very old building and there are wooden floors, wear earplugs if footsteps overhead disturb you.

Parking space adjacent to the hotel. The hotel is devided into two buildings in the main commercial street. Two minutes walk to the sanctuaries. The rooms are located either in the old building or in the newer one with on the ground floor the restaurant for lunch, dinner and breakfast. They allocated us a room for single use under the roof with very low ceiling and very low lighting instead of the booked double room. The main staff is rather professional, the replacement staff is not professional at all, they need urgently professional briefing since they allowed people to smoke during dinner, they really don't know neither the rules nor how to serve people. Some days the breakfast is good, other days breakfast is no more than just enough as the allocated replacement staff to the breakfast seems not to be motivated at all. We booked full board, lunch and dinner are very simple. Some days we received food straight away from cans. We stayed in this hotel for one week and we noticed that the service for one day customers is still better. During our one week stay the floor of the dining room has not been cleaned. Long stay people are treated as second range.
Conclusion: this hotel is good for one day not for a longer stay although it is a very nice region.

Room Tip: See the room before accepting. Some very small single rooms in the old and in the newer building wit...

Monsieur,

Sir,

We acknowledge your comments on Tripadvisor and we thank you for them. We regret not being able to satisfy your demands. We remember your visit with a group of Belgian tourists. Nevertheless we would like to make some pertinent comments on your observations:
The room you had is a double room with bath and if you had made your desire to change rooms known the reception would have taken the time to listen to you.
It is true that we have students from Hotel and Catering schools who can be less professional, it is possible we were not vigilant enough with them. We will try to supervise them more carefully in the future.
The breakfast buffet is generous and has the same ingredients every day, we did not receive any complaints regarding it. The breakfast is the same for individual clients and groups.
We do not use cans except for the duck confit witch is conserved in goose fat
The restaurant is cleaned at least twice a day, every day, it is not fair to imply that it was not cleaned for a week.
The hotel and restaurant are non smoking. In France it is forbidden to smoke in public places. That day the client had an electronic cigarette witch does not release harmful smoke and the waiter did not know how to deal with the clients refusal to stop.
We apologise once again and we assure you that we will take into consideration all your justified remarks regarding our staff.
Management – Martial Menot

We booked a junior suite for our recent one night stay, which turned out to be an enormous room with large en suite and spa bath, all very luxurious. The room was at the front of the hotel with views across the valley. The staff were all exceedingly polite and obliging. The restaurant exceeded our expectations and was very well run, with good food and service. Breakfast was similarly good. There is car parking outside the front door. The hotel is very well situated for visiting the sites of Rocamadour, everything is in walking distance. We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: I can imagine that a room overlooking the dining terrace might be a little noisy in the summer when...

We originally decided to stay for only 2 nights, but after the first night we decided to extend another 5 nights. The staff were extremely helpful - they could speak English and they provided genuinely good information about the area. The restaurant was excellent too - we had breakfast and dinner there everyday.

Some of the nicest people in the hotel business ever. The staff --all of them --were xtremely helpful and friendly. I would return again. Lovely historic building with beautiful public room. Also, their restaurant was quite good.

The service in this place is outstanding! In fact, the person who took care of us has been with the hotel for 45 years — she was charming, gracious, and had a great sense of humor.

Our room was well-appointed (the bathroom
Jacuzzi was particularly nice).

Dinner and breakfast at their restaurant were excellent as well. Rocamadour's local
cheese are particularly delicious.

Very glad we stayed, and we'd definitely come again.
