“Excellent location, clean and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

We have recently stayed at the Hotel Continental, the location was central to the centre of town and the rooms were large (we were in a triple room), fresh, clean with maid service daily. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

The hotel has never been open in the winter before. They were very accommodating. The rooms were comfortable. We slept 3 to a room. The hotel is a bit tired, but what does one expect in a town where millions come a season to be healed? The carpets in the hallways could use a change. There are not enough outlets for your phones. The hotels has wifi in the lobby lounge area. The lights in the hallways don't always turn on right away, but the staff if very friendly and helpful. I loved going to Lourdes in the winter because no one is there. Having said that, you should be aware that nothing is open either.

The hotel offers good service, bedrooms are cleaned every morning. It is a good place to stay when the Sanctuary is not busy but there are noise issues you could hear even the slightest movement next door or people walking around. Apart from that, the rooms are extremely clean. I will not stay there during the Sanctuary's peak period.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is at the end of the corridor and/or not facing the street

Hotel Continental is a great place to stay at if you are visiting Lourdes. My boyfriend and I were so glad to have found this place. We stayed one night here in June and loved it! Our room was very comfortable and spacious. It had two twin beds with foam mattresses so we slept like babies. The bathroom was the largest we saw during our 3 week trip in Europe so we enjoyed not feeling like sardines while taking a shower.

Aside from the room itself, the hotel is very close to all the Grotto itself. It was a short and easy walk for us and there were very good cafes nearby. Hotel staff was helpful with recommendations and they were very nice! Try checking their website for deals before reserving thru any other travel website. Its also a little cheaper if you deny breakfast.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2006

The weather was hot during our stay, so with no airconditioning, the only choice was to leave the window open at night. Unfortunately this resulted in noise from the street and disturbed sleep. The room was cramped for 2 people and generally looked 'tired', although the bathroom was modern and clean. A very comprehensive cold breakfast was available. The staff were helpfull and friendly. For the price it is good value, but request a room away from the main street.

  • Liked — location and the breakfast
  • Disliked — cramped room and outside noise
  • Tips/Secrets — request a room away from the street

Booked for St Rose but it was overbooked and they sent us to this hotel as it is their sister hotel. No restaurant for evening meal (the original hotel we booked did have one). Rooms were clean but needed refurbishment. Wallpaper scuffed and peeling in places, large stains on the carpet and generally furniture worn. Carpets on the landing lifting quite badly in places which caused my elderly father to trip and was not repaired when reported. Staff at the hotel were very helpful with any queries and were very friendly. The receptionist spoke very good english. The continental breakfast was ok but if you arrived 30 minutes before latest breakfast time you were sent across the street to the Hotel Le Solitude (also a sister hotel) which looked nicer and had more atmosphere. Hotel was ok for our 2 night stay but we would have been really disappointed if we were here for longer.
