“An Oasis in Lourdes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

This hotel is situated right near the river and has views of the mountains. We checked in as a family of 5 for one night. The hotel staff greeted us warming was very informative on what to see in a short period of time (including where to do laundry in town). The hotel is about a 10 minute walk through the center of town to get to the ghotto. Sparkling clean throughout including the dining room and hotel rooms. We had 2 triples and they were set up in a dormatory style with 3 twin beds but very clean and neat. A small balcony that overlooked the river and the hills. The bathroom was separated with the toilet in one area and the shower and sink in another. Perfect for 3 or 2 people sharing a room.

Many stores and restaurants were in a close proximity and we chose the Versailles restaurant which was only a few steps away from the hotel. Delicious Goulash was the daily special. We did dine in the main dining hall for breakfast and it was excellent. Fresh bread, fruit, meats, cheeses, yogurt, coffee and teas and assorted juices.

The Wifi worked just perfect but there was a small fee for it. There was also a lovely outdoor terrace if you wanted to have coffee or a drink.

There is a gift shop to purchase miscellaneous items and if you show your room key they will give you a discount.

Wonderful experience and we all wish we would have stayed another day!

Room Tip: The front of the property might have betters views but we were on the side and still had a good view...

Firstly, the strength of this hotel is its lovely staff. The waitresses work their socks off, and still have time to do little errands which are important to you - like filling up your thermos flasks with hot water for your return journey! Ice packs put in freezer etc.
The hotel was struggling with the air conditioning system, but as son as you report the problem, within the day the maintenance man has got it fixed, even if it only lasts three days before you have to call them back again. So if it isnt working in your room - let reception know (but do make sure to keep the balcony door closed or else the contacts dont meet, and it turns off).
Bedrooms are fine, cleaned daily, fresh towels daily.
Food - hard to be negative when I know they are trying so very hard, catering to a wide range of dietry demands from various pilgrims. However, serving 80 people instantly when we sit down is going to mean that the meat has been sliced, plattered, and is waiting to come out - and is very dry. It would have been really nice to have had a salad bar at lunch time. Fairly sure that most of us wouldn't have minded a cold lunch, especially in the height of summer, and would maybe free up the kitchen to prepare a lovely dinner.
Wifi - if you have a laptop - not a problem. The Manager did get the wifi guru to come and try and fix the problems we were all having with reception, and things did improve by the end of the week.
HOWEVER - catch 22 for those of us with 'i' products ie ipads, iphones etc.... to get onto the hotel internet, you MUST first go to the AppStore and download a free ap called 'UCOPIA Communications', once this app has downloaded - then you can enter in the Hotel's password and id - and your are all set up. Very hard to download an App when you can't get onto wifi!
Our group was spread over 8-10 hotels, and the Med was the only one charging for its wifi. So not very happy about that. Thankfully another pilgrim took the ipad to their hotel to download the app for me.
Location wise, one of the furthest away from the Domain, but that does mean it is not as busy at night time.
Beds are on the hard side and despite the Hotel having had a revamp, the whole hotel only has two interconnecting rooms. Not a good point when so many travelling as families.
So thank you - good trip.

Room Tip: If you want one of the interconnecting rooms - book early!

Just returned from a week in this hotel whilst working with a group of pilgrims. All the staff were really helpful and accommodating, the food was good and plentiful, and the location was lovely. I would certainly stay here again .

We have stayed at the Med' for ten years on our group pilgrimage, the coments have always been very positive from the pilgrims who have travelled with us. We have always had the very best of sevice, and great kindness.
The food is lovely and varied, the chef takes a pride in his food.
The Hotel has recentlu been refurbished and is very clean and comfortable.
I think it speaks for itself that we have booked with confidence for ten years!!!!
We usually travel in May and we are already looking forward to
next years pilgrimage!!!! Maria and Monty

This was the second time i used the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helped with all my questions. It is a little further than some from the domaine but I believe this adds to the experience as you have time to reflect. Thanks to all the team and i hope to visit again soon, God willing.
