“Delightful overnight stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

We stayed here for one night en-route to Spain; what a delightful experience it was!

We hadn't booked anywhere and ended up in Cahors looking for a place to stay; we were directed to The Terminus by another hotel and from walking in the door to enquire we were made very welcome. We had a double and a single room and both rooms were clean and welcoming.

The lady on reception was excellent, lovely and very helpful, she made us feel very welcome.

We never ate there but believe the restaurant has an excellent reputation.

There is a garage to park one or two cars and at a small fee of 7euro it was worth it for us to pay it as our car was fully loaded and we did not want to leave it on a public road.

It's handy for the train station yet we experienced no noise, and less than a 10 minute walk (uphill) to the main street.

This is a lovely hotel with lovely people and with lots of character.

Yes we would stay here again and it would be my first choice to stay in Cahors (in this price bracket I might add).

The decor is repro art nouveau but the old building has retained its charm. Old-fashioned but very comfortable. The welcome is warm and the service is excellent and convivial. Some noise in our room from the road/station. Very handy access from motorway.
But you shouldn't stay here without indulging in the restaurant. You can blow a lot of money on the menu degustation but it's worth it. Clever variations on traditional themes by outstanding cooks who really care about their art and their customers' enjoyment.

Our experience is quite different than other rooms we have stayed in. Red satin and dark grey boudoir black bath and red tiles. Hotel very friendly, beautiful stained glass windows ,very Art Deco. We went to see our friends superior room which also had a amazing bathroom.

we arrived one evening having got off the train. Its very convenient for the station. From the outside the hotel looks like one of those old fashioned between the wars places, but inside the reception was very welcoming.and the room was fine and huge!. Unlike other contributors comments we did find wifi available.
Unfortunately the restaurant was closed it being a Monday, but we were given helpful information as to where to go. It also coincided with a night market which made it a pleasant experience all round. The breakfast in the morning was well up to good continental standards.
I can recommend for a comfortable overnight stop and friendly service

Room Tip: could not rate restaurant and there was no pool

Hello again Folks,

Please find my review of the Hotel Terminus, Cahors. If you find the review of any help at all, please click the helpful green button at the end. THANKS!

We stayed at the hotel on Friday 26th July, 2013

We found the hotel with ease, which is slightly out of Town and opposite the train station. Although there is very limited free parking in the hotel front, the lady at reception said that you could park outside on the footway, free of charge, despite 2 hour limit restriction signs.

The lady on reception spoke great English and handed us the keys to room 20 on the third floor. It was charged at 80.00 euros.

It was a little small, but adequate. There were no tea / coffee making facilities or safe. There was only a bath and shower head to wash your hair. It was a no frills type of room really. Just enough to get a nights sleep and a couple of showers.

The room did have a/c, but was not that powerful. The car was reading 36.5 degrees, on the afternoon that we arrived.

The main town is a 5 - 10 minute walk up hill, depending on your pace. There wasn’t much local to the hotel, that we could see.

The hotel is very interesting inside, with a beautiful bar and restaurant. The restaurant was mentioned in our Lonely Planet guide, but we dined out in the Evening.

Cahors:

Is surrounded my nice countryside and its beautiful river. The main town itself, has a busy road running through its centre, with bars and restaurants on either side. Plenty of selection. There are one or two small squares or side streets, where other bars and restaurants can be found.

We found it pretty relaxing and informal. Quite pleasant really and would return / recommend.

We dined at Restaurant Le Lamparo and I have reviewed it if you would like to take a look.

Overall the hotel done its job and was pretty good value for the money, so would most probably return / recommend.

Many Thanks
Gary.

Not sure how I feel about this one yet... room was at the top and the ceiling/roof took up much of the room. There's a wonderful old-world feel to this hotel but not sure if that transcends past the hall. Also no WIFI in the room.
Restaurant is very good however and the service throughout - hotel and restaurant - is exceptional.
Breakfast is also very good although the waiter tried to charge me an extra 2 Euro for an extra bit of baguette which I thought a bit ridiculous... I did not want croissant or the pain au chocolate, just baguette you see... when I expressed my concern, he was quick to adjust the balance! But you do remember such things, don't you?!

Room Tip: Avoid the top floor!!!

We arrived at the hotel after a week of hiking in very inclement weather. The hotel was a fantastic respite and a great hub from which to visit the city.

It is a 100 year old building so anyone expecting a copy-paste, bland, ikea-style hotel should steer away. anyone looking for extremely friendly service, a place full of charatcer, a great restaurant and a good night's rest will enjoy their time there.

The room was bright, spacious and well fitted. We were on the third floor which is ideal as it guarantees no nise from the train station. On that point, you should know that Cahors is not a major city and that even thought the hotel is close to the station (as you can guess from the name), there is still a lot less noise than you might fear/expect.

The restaurant is the best possible example of what happens when passion is met with talent. The father and son duo is a great one and the sommelier is both knowledgeable and user friendly: he doesn't try to bully people into buying super expensive wine and he pays attention to the customer's taste and preferences.

The hotel is also ideally located as it is only 10 minutes walk from the medieval city and the 14th century bridge.

This was a great stay and we will definitely go back!
