“Splendid excenlence!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Great place to visit! It was not crowded at all when I visited the town, because it was just classed UNESCO, I think, and not many people knew it yet, or knew its excellence... Albi is an ancient-style town. The Albi's Cathedral is one of the most beautiful ones I've see.

“unexpected find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

From the outside this is a big and impressive building but it does not prepare you for the inside. Seeing what most churches at the time would have looked liked, ie painted from top to bottom, was a real and unexpected treat

“Wow! What a size!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

We arrived in Albi in pouring rain which got steadily worse and we got more soaked despite an
umbrella. We parked centrally in an underground car park and proceeded in the wrong direction for what we perceived was the centre. Having returned, crossed the road to a book / card shop we were pointed in the right direction. Battling against the wind and rain, we found ourselves in front of the huge cathedral. We were surprised that despite its age that it was made entirely of red brick which having been cleaned, looked like new. We climbed the flight of steps and entered this magnificent and impressive cathedral. There are other publications which give details of its history and other people have described it well. It was situated in the same square and adjacent to the tourist office and Toulouse Lautrec museum. Forlornly nearby was a little tourist train parked for a break of two hours so we weren't able to use it. Similarly, just as we emerged from the Cathedral, the Toulouse Lautrec Museum had just shut its doors for lunch. We made use of a nearby newsagents / bookshop to buy some postcards and books / guides. Still soaked and getting tired of the rain, we wandered around looking for a good place to eat. We found an excellent one behind the covered market (didn't have time to go into this food market).
O Bistrot was excellent. However, having dried off a little, we ventured out into the continuing rain and sadly ran out of time to explore more, deciding to call it a day partly because of the weather and also because our bed for the night was in Limoges so we had to push on.
Despite the weather, we really liked Albi and would very much like to return and see more.

“An extraordinary cathedral”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

It's a great space, and the Last Judgment is a knock-out. The ambulatory chapels and choir are extraordinary.

“are your feet tired of walking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

that's hold my wife and myself felt after 10 days visiting the gorges in Ardeche and Aveyron.
Albi is such an inviting tow, with Toulouse Lautrec and the cathedral of st-Cecil as appetizers,
there is this bicycle (tricycle) with a healthy man (his daughter is tagging along with her own
tricycle, they take you around the town, including the pedestrian cobble stoned area.
half an hour, in this clean bicycle, and you get the history, some great vantage points while
resting your tired legs. Don't miss out, its so cool, that french and tourists alike would stop us
to ask if its for hire; the best few euros we spent in expensive France
