“OK, average Accor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2011

Location is quite ok, very near railway station but little walk away from centre.
Our room was clean and big and it was equipped with A/C and flat-tv but no minibar.
Bigest problem with the room was the fact that there is absolutely no sound proofing at all. we could here everything from the corridor and next room. Room was also very dark because there wasn't lamp in the ceiling.
Breakfast was very basic but it was included in the room price as was also wi-fi.
Service was ok in the reception.
This is a basic Accor hotel with bigger rooms than Ibis but not as good as Mercure hotels.

Location is fine but ave foch can be noisy and with no aircon opening windows makes for a disturbing night. Shame that this hotel has lost its independent status and become part of the bland Accor group.

We did an over-nighter in this hotel, it has been cheaply renovated to try and create the look and feel of a design hotel - sadly it has failed. The hotel is in an impressive building on Avenu Foch in Metz, this is a lovely looking boulevard during the day, but in the evening we spent a good 30 mins watching a fight between prostitutes in the small gardens that run through the centre of the boulevard. The room and bathroom were perfectly clean and acceptable for the price we paid - but it felt dingy and old despite the attempted renovation and the huge windows. Breakfast was poor, low quality cereals and croissants. The hotel lobby and the lift are truly vile, the carpet is filthy and my heart sank when we first entered. Overall, this place is fine for one night, but don't expect too much.

Although this hotel is in an excellent location and has a friendly staff as per the trip advisor reviews, I was really disappointed that there was no soap or shampoo in the rooms. Even in the middle of "no where" in India, you at least get hand soap in your rooms, it may be a tiny sliver but it is there. Not since the early '90s have I stayed in a hotel in Europe or North America that has not provided this basic necessity. Thus, I no longer carry any with me "just in case". Also, the rooms have no dead bolts on them. The key to the room opens it, but while you are in the room there is no way to secure the door. We ended up taking the door key off the card key for the lights in order to lock the door from the inside. This was manageable but was inconvenient.

This hotel is very well located and easy to find. Like Metz, the hotel has a certain feel to it that makes your stay great. The internet was free which was appreciated. My only complaint is that I continuously spoke French to the staff, which continously answered me in English! The breakfast is ok but nothing phenomenal. On the day we were checking out, they kindly kept our bags in the manager's office as well as lent us an umbrella because it looked like it was going to rain.. Overall a good experience.

The timing of my visit to Metz was to visit the Christmas Markets and the Pompdou Centre as well as visiting some other towns in the area by train. It happened to coincide with early snow fall. I got a good deal so traded up from the Ibis which is my usual Accor htel standard. The building is great with a staircase that is wide enough for ladies in grand, large late 19th Century dresses. On the other hand the lift was worryingly wheezey. Reception was professional and friendly enough. Breakfast was fine - the bread was very high quality. The room was comfortable but in a sense over-designed - another reviewer has mentioned the absence of shelves or racks in the shower room and personally I thought the TV a bit too big.
