“Classy but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

The restaurant could become the best place of Metz with the advantage of the historic building. The menu proposes classical dishes and some innovative plates (granita with nuts and truffles). Local wines are proposed at correct prices, I enjoy the "Clos of Molozay".
The service could be improved with more decontraction and simplicity.
The bill is a little expensive for the quality and service, but justified for the place.

“A memorable meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

We had alot of great meals in France, but this restaurant was the best of them all. Not only was the food delicious, but the service was impecable without being pretentious. An all around delightful evening. Would gladly return to Metz just to eat there again.

“Quality food but is that enough?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2012

I have very little to say about the meal we had at this restaurant. Food was delicious, traditional with a hint of modern, just enough to make it more interesting without exaggerating. Quality ingredients, from the starters to the desserts and cheese everything was satisfactory. I want to be a little "Gault Millau" and I say very good! But they tell me this restaurant has a Michelin star: they used to take everything into account. Then I must disagree. The place is rather ugly, it really looks like an hotel restaurant. That's what it is, right, but it's not cosy at all. The staff is professional but rather cold. Additionally, everything was served on a tile (they'd probably say "stone plate"). Nice, but EVERYTHING??? Please give me my good old porcelain! We got to the restaurant at eight and it was fine but those who came in later were served one course after the other. The wine list eventually: a few good bottles although a little pricey (over three times market value), but not many at all. That big book is half empty! Therefore I'd say that you end up paying too much for what you get, that Michelin stars are becoming less and less reliable and that you can certainly eat there without big regrets unless it's a very special occasion or money is an issue.

“not up to par”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2011

I have never had a 7 course meal where the courses flew out of the kitchen one after the other. The foie gras appetizer, canapes and cheese plate were the best courses. The main dish of sole was tasteless, and the lamb course was overcooked and bland. There was a mint granita that tasted like creme de menthe poured over chopped ice, disgusting unless you really like mint. Way too much money to spend on a meal that was very inconsistent!
