“Good location & comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

The Hotel had a good location only a few minutes walk over a bridge to the town.
The beds and the amount of space made for a comfrtable stay for the two of us, more space than a normal hotel . have stayed at a couple of Apart hotels and this is the norm for them.
Staff where very friendly and helpful.
Only negative was on our second breakfast there just was not much to be had the firrst had plenty. tThe peson who was responsible for restaocking was too buisy eating their own breakfast and could not care less. we did not arrive late for breakfast so that was no excise.
All in all I would recomend .

Room Tip: Get breakfast some place else . or cause a commotion if it is not stocked propperly.

Recently we've been choosing apartments for city breaks rather than hotels as they are more comfortable if you want a rest from pounding the streets &, for more than 2, can be quite economical. This was a disappointment. We started badly as the reception was closed & the instructions we had been sent on how to gain access were incorrect. We got in more by accident.
We had was was supposed to be a 4 person appartment. It might sound from the web-site that it might be suitable for 2 couples - most definitely NOT. It is hard to see how it would be comfortable for more than one person who is expecting to eat out all the time. The 'double' bed was small & against the wall. A second person would have to climb over the first to get out of bed. Our adult daughter was with us & we gave her the bedroom. We took the two fold-out beds in the living room. They were comfortable but took up so much room that moving about when they were down was quite hazardous. I've the bruises to prove it.
There was plenty of clothes storage but all the hanging space was in the living room.
The' kitchen' was a joke. You could make a hot drink, a continental breakfast or assemble a picnic meal but it took my husband 20 minutes to boil an egg starting with hot water. There was only a shelf or your lap to eat on.
Noisy over night if your room was at the front.
It is a fair hike to to the tourist bits.
Good points:
There was parking available at a price & a good selection of shops near by. It was clean. It was near the canal for an interesting stroll.

Room Tip: If you must stay here, ask for a room at the back.

We arrived early in the morning after having stayed at the Residhome Metz for a couple of nights. Luckily our room was already available.

This time we did get the studio room, which was smaller than any Ibis hotel room I've ever stayed at. Again the bed was way too small for two people sharing, and here the mattress was dreadfully soft and uncomfortable.
Our room (reasonably clean) was on the back of the hotel facing other apartment buildings. On the balcony of one of the apartments a boxer dog was kept outside and howling all day and night. I know this is not the hotel's fault - they had actually already complained several times to the building's concierge - but be warned that this could happen any time as the dog was in a residential building, not a hotel, so it clearly lives there!

There is no vending machine in the lobby, parking costs EUR 8/night but there is free parking available around the hotel. We didn't use the breakfast facility which is EUR 9,50/person.

Don't be fooled by the hotel's statement that they are near the Stanislas Square: it is on the other side of the river and still a fair walk away (approx. 15 minutes).

In all: would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Especially not if you are charged the high rates as advertised, luckily we got it very cheap through a hotel room aution site.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012 via mobile

The area, of redeveloped land with modern apartment buildings, is not far from the centre, and is tidy, architecturally dull yet fresh. There is a cinema complex nearby.

My room had a small kitchenette, a medium sized bathroom and a small bedroom with sofa bed. Windows are double-glazed and shuttered.

Decor is motel-level basic, functional.

Breakfast was ok with good fresh fruits, croissant, French coffee, tea, basic cereals and little else, however there is an orange squeezer with plenty of blood oranges to make juice from. Tasty.

We spent a night here on the way back from our holiday, and the accommodation was fine, if just a little soulless. Both the reception staff I dealt with were very pleasant and helpful. The one bed apartments have a small kitchen with 2 hotplates, a microwave, a sink and a reasonable sized fridge with an icebox inside. You will not be able to conjure up a gourmet meal here, there is not a lot of work surface, but for making something simple it's absolutely fine. Washing up liquid,a scrubber and a tea towel were all provided. The kitchen and the apartment were modern and in good condition, and there were plenty of plates, cutlery etc provided.

The lounge was a reasonable size and with some modern furniture - a little soulless as I say, perhaps another picture or two would have helped but it was fine, with several lamps about. There was a flat screen tv, a sofa bed which was good and comfortable, a couple of single chairs. We had to eat at the desk. The bedroom was very nice with a big and very comfortable bed. There were three of us - for two people these would be very nice with the separate bedroom. We had a room at the back, which was probably a bit quieter than the ones at the front, but they all had double glazing, external wooden shutters and then internal curtains so they are probably all right too.

Secure parking under the building is available for 5 euros a night, but be aware it is only 1m 90cm high so you won't get in if you have a roof box. The receptionist said the area was safe where we parked outside, we were a bit dubious but had no problems. It is quite difficult to find due to the one way system, but follow the signs to the Etap and the Suitehotel and you will be within a couple of streets of the Residhome. The area is undergoing some regeneration. Finally, please be aware that the Place Stanislas is quite a distance away - I was under the impression it was just around the corner from here, but my husband went out for an explore and said you would need to catch the tram which stops nearby to get there.

I would happily stay here again,

  • Liked — Clean, modern, well equipped, friendly staff
  • Disliked — Nothing really
